extent of life

yeh i agree, but i dont think it has to do with 'life' perse. i mean, you could say a crystal is in some ways alive because it grows and produces more crystals and digests energy to form structure. but its not alive in the way life on earth is alive.

but i think everything is made up of some component that is of a different n ature to that thing itself. and everything is a component of some group of components that act in a different way to their individual components. there are some things that repeat themselves, but i think this is a product of our frames of reference - that is, living in a 3 dimensional universe, consciously passing over time.

so, yeh our galaxy may very well be a cosmic particle of an atom that functions on the next level (if we consider quantum realm and then the newtonian realm, in some senses, there may be another realm above that, and below quantum)

but that doesnt make these things alive. if it does, then the very word 'alive' sort of ceases to mean anything, if it apples to everything.
