Obviously you are an epic iconoclast! BTW, 'gobsmacked' is a Brit term that I hear occasionally and always thot it a weird expression. What does it mean exactly? Someone gets smacked with a gob of what?
I hate texting and iphones. talk about bad spelling....two people go on a date and spend the whole time on their phones. Sheesh! Get an implant! "Stupidity kills, just not fast enough"...but just keep texting and driving.....
Spliff nailed it. It means smacked in the mouth. Gob being a quaint bit of UK slang for mouth. But people also say they 'gobbed' meaning they spat. Or 'gobbed off' - spoke in a loud and/or irrelevant way.
The word "scrambling" must be taught to newscasters. They use it constantly. This agency or that person is left scrambling to do this or that. Why do they use it so much while I hear so little of its use in my regular life?
Any time I have to consult urban dictionary to know what the fuck a person is talking about. Mostly ghetto/hiphop slang.
