We are getting too off topic here- what matters is that most wars are started by christian countries and not by buddhist countries.

Is Obama a christian or atheist do you know?

    Yeah really!
So why did you redirect the topic into a religious discussion when it was about capitol punishment?
What does anything you have stated or asked in the above have to do with capitol punishment, or the absurd comparison between the specific case and execution in Islamic countries, as stated by the OP.
Your the one who needs to stay on topic.

I get tired of people who think any and all discussions are an opportunity to espouse their own political or religious views, even when the topic has nothing to do with it.
Then they never really want an honest, un-biased discussion, they just want to sound off on their own little soapbox thinking they are something new and revolutionary to the world and all should hearken to their cry.

Yup, just like the Soviet's invasion of Afghanistan, the Chinese-Vietnamese border war, Korean war, three different Indian-Pakistani wars, Somali invasion of Ethiopia, Arab-Israeli wars, oh those crazy Christians.

FYI there are only 3 countries with a Buddhist majority, one is ruled by a military government, the other had a military coup 4 years ago, and Bhutan is tiny and basically isolated beyond belief.

actually, i think there are more

    bhutan
    burma
    cambodia
    laos
    mongolia
    sri lanka
    thailand
    vietnam

tibet and tuva are buddhist "autonomous" regions, possibly inner mongolia too?

japan, singapore, south korea and taiwan have significant buddhist numbers as well . . .

Burma, Thailand and Bhutan were the ones I was thinking of. The rest though you're right, completely over my head. But they mostly back up the point, Vietnam has been to war against both China and Cambodia, Sri Lank was in a bitter civil war for the past 30 years, Laos has a repressive communist government.

    OK...
    So you just want to make a blanket, definitive statement such as this;

and everyone else should then just "get back on topic" so as to not challenge you on your simple-minded naivette'?

Ok, I understand your MO now.

I bet you have an issue with closed minded Christian fundamentalist?
Whats your address, I want to send you a mirror for Christmas:cool:

No, these are Bhuddist countries, Vietnam and Laos allow a degree of a religious freedom especially since they have Buddhist monuments that bring in tourists. Cambodia was the only true atheist country.

You do realize that it is VERY difficult to read all that the way you posted it.

Plus you do understand that just because you scream louder does not validate your position any further.

I'm not denying any of the atrocities of war you speak of, but be honest and realize that EVERY religion and culture has dirty secrets.
I for one prefer to understand and consider a religion by it's TEACHINGS rather than it's PRACTITIONERS. The practitioners are all human and as such will comprise the entire gamut of human personality and condition.
    Humans will ALWAYS disappoint somebody.

Consider this, it's very easy to avoid conflict with others when you seclude yourself from the rest of the world in order to pursue your religious convictions.

Christianity has it's share of assholes and idiots, as does every group, but I think they probably achieve more in terms of humanitarian aid than Buddhism. And isn't helping others and esteeming another's life as equal or more valuable than your own what it is all about where the rubber meets the road?

Well now its late in europe I go to bed tired of trying to explain my point. To finish this I get back on topic for saying that I will never like death penalty. So is my statement.

Im glad I was raised in this Roman Catholic town.. Im certainly happy I went to a Catholic school. I enjoyed the abuse from nuns, lay teachers and priest, I enjoyed the white trash parents that put their children up to no good, so they could continue as facility members and point their fingers at (the bad kids) lol, I enjoyed having to being skipping school as early as the 4th grade due to the abusive patterns or all the above, I enjoyed beating up the kids with weapons when they attacked me after school, I enjoyed being suspended from the bowling league cause some other christian kid stole my ball and I knocked his teeth out, I enjoyed being blamed for things I didnt do, and really enjoyed being blamed for things that the now principal Ed Maritz of Stowe Rox School did. I enjoyed all the commotion Ed Maritz caused in class and loved how he pulled the nuns veils off and Myself and other students got smacked around for..

I enjoyed leaving that school, only to get to a pubic school..

Since my education was jeopardized due the fact i was pulled out of class 100's upon 100's of times to serve as an Alter Boy,, Let me reverify the point that we we're suppose to be the bad kids? .. So you aid them in education by taking them out of class, to serve your make believe masses?.. Thats pretty fucked up REALLY!!

I enjoyed having to quit school and enter into a DEP with the Army, I enjoyed being sent overseas and killing people cause some Christian president thought thats how we should handle it..

I enjoyed coming back to this shit hole town, now with all its Catholic Churches closed@ I really dont give a fuck. Cause Im a Muslim now.. ;)

I think theres a whole lot of motherfuckers, Id like to bury up to the neck and stone to death..:eggnog:

Why blame any one group for the inevitable violence the human race has caused. We are not advanced beings, we are simple enough to still understand hostility and so it's just there.

Christians may exist in 20 million years for all we know, as so long as they do, violence will not

so you can't blame the culture, it's the science of being. We are all capable of war.
