I once met a man who was very regretful and sad because of the terrible things he did while he was drunk. I told him that he wasn't that bad, that he hadn't done damage that he couldn't fix. I told him that he should cut down though, I told him that a Scotsman once got so drunk that he invented golf, and that wretched, sickening, and evil things like that cannot be forgiven, that cannot be fixed. He now heads 7 anti-alcohol organizations.
golf is really a very pleasant way to spend a summer afternoon. a sober person invented basketball, so obviously everyone should start drinking heavily to avoid further such travesties.
Forget Golf, The Real Game That Was Invented By Evil Drunks Is Cricket, Just A Pack Of Fools Who Stand Around In The Blazing Sun Scratching Their Balls And Picking Their Nose's. No Doubt It Was Invented By The English And As Such The Olde Saying.......... "Only Mad Dogs And Englishmen Go Out In The Midday Sun" Comes To Mind...... :sunny: Cheers Glen.
Golf ... waste of a good walk. About the only thing I agree with that Winston Churchill ever said. Alright ... maybe a few more ... but he got THAT right ...
Just another disgruntled duffer I'm afraid... it's not uncommon, hacks trying to denigrate the game in a feeble attempt to defend their fragile egos when they find out golf is not an easy sport. “Golf is a game whose aim is to hit a very small ball into an ever smaller hole, with weapons singularly ill-designed for the purpose” ― Winston S. Churchill
Love the Churchill quote ... looks like that's two of his I like ... eek gads .. .I'm getting close to being conservative ... just like a golfer ...
I don't know about conservative, where I play it's not uncommon to toke up during the game. One of my pet peeves is a drunken golfer. LOL, as much as I love Carlin, I'm afraid he wasn't, as they say, an 'outdoor person' His comments on golf aren't even funny, just ignorant and mean.
They were pretty accurate comments for the course I worked at when I got out of high school... Caddy Shack was pretty close as well. Private Country Clubs are rather scary places, full of rich arrogant assholes. I'll side with Carlin on this one.
Yeah I'll concede, there's definitely a disgusting side of the golf world that has very little to do with the game itself. Without a doubt more than probably any other sport, pompous, arrogant, prejudicial assholes really do give golf a bad name. It's unfortunate to have to be associated with that kind of thing in some peoples minds when I happen to mention I love playing golf. I've never been to a private golf course, much less one with a dress code, lol Hate the player, not the game, lol
