I'm trying to think of some family-oriented sitcoms with a different husband/wife dynamic but I've got nothing. They're all pretty much like that.

I stopped watching it for that reason...the best part of the show was Frank, Marie and Robert.
Like someone said above, I stopped watching sitcoms years ago.
Except of course for Trailer Park Boys.

Never mind the petty bull shit that females get upset over and manipulate over, and females are the worst...how about these real murder shows where the female has their man so blind over her, that she convinces her man she is victim to someone and her man wants to help and many times murders who the female wants killed. I have to wonder...don't these mrn think that they may be on her do away with list next?

She's very fuckable in some episodes though. ;)
I don't think she's a horrible person though, living in that close proximity to your parents...fuck that. And they're over all the time no peace and quiet no nothing. And Raymond doesn't really help his cause either. He's a typical Italian husband. Lazy. Never helps, never offers to help the only way he helps is if he thinks he'll get sex. So give ol' Debby a break. She has a lot of shit to deal with. -.-

Your thread reminded me of this movie where this director has decided to make a Russian version of Everybody Loves Raymond. He struggles trying to get the humor right because of cultural differences. Anyway.. funny story. Here is the trailer.

I love Lucy was kind of the opposite, where you have the ditzy wife who always needs to be saved from some pickle by her long-suffering husband.

married with children was pretty awesome and definitely deliberately poked fun of those stereotypes. Peg was prob my favorite character on the show. I've never seen rules of engagement.

yeah, i agree with the general consensus that OP just described the standard sitcom formula, particularly from that time period.

that said, i always though the wife from home improvement was the ultimate example of the evil cuntbag that the audience was encouraged to side with.

I watched a Big Bang episode the other night. Penny and Leonardo were broken up but he slept with a scientist friend of Sheldons.

Penny got really upset because they'd "just broken up".

She fucking pissed me off so hardcore over that! :D
    -stomps-

And the next episode she hooks up with a total dumb arse, you can tell she only went for him for the looks. And she gets upset that he isn't as smart as Leonardo. She's a fuckin' whack job and I seriously hate her. And I hate any female that's like her. -.-

All characters in Married with children are too unlikable. They all bring their misery onto themselves. Maybe I just got so fed up with that show because I already watched most of it like 10 years ago and it has consistently been re-broadcasted. And every other show has pretty much the same type of jokes as Married with children, except pulled off slightly better or done with more likeable characters or a better setting. I guess Married with children's humor and charicatures are a tad too lame for me. Every episode you know exactly what to expect and in their case I don't like it.

Roseanne's so great because it is much closer to reality. I pretty much grew up with that show. It always was on before or right after dinner time when I was a kid.

I think that scientist friend was Darlene in Roseanne! She's very funny in both shows.

Queenie from Blackadder II she was a riot. Friends I suppose, Murphy Brown

Thats about it, there aint that many
