ive heard that you can sex straight run chicks by pin feathers, do you find that to be the case?

we will be limited to 6 hens (i was hoping for 8, personally) assuming the ordinance passes, and theres good support. i was wanting to do 6 to start, and add 2 birds each year to replace older birds. i guess i will try 4+2, or start with 6 and swap out when necessary. i dunno. it will probably be trial and error for a little bit. need to add coop building to my short list.

i have some pallets and half pallets i was thinking of painting or staining, and backing with chicken wire ore hardware cloth material to make a safe run, thats also kind of "hidey" not that it really will matter what it looks like, but i prefer to use stuff i have on hand as much as possible.
any advice on what to avoid?

 

design the coop for easy access to clean....cleaning is a huge pain if you go through a tiny chicken door to do it....i made mine so the entire back wall is hinged and opens like a garage door...i prop a stick and then have a 4 foot by 4 foot entry to clean the coop or gather eggs....they lay eggs farthest from the door so a second access is needed....thats why you see fancy coops with drawers in behind that pull out..........keep in mind they try and hide their water and food with straw so keep them up off the ground if inside the coop..........box wont allow me to space either and i did log out etc etc ......nothing is working

i want to set up 2 runs so that one can be cleaned while the other is in use, or if we ever get permission to go up in numbers, or circumstances force us to. definitely people sized doors, lol. maybe enclose it all in a hoop house, keep them sheltered from the hawks. theres just so much to consider! but its very exciting bawk bawk.

 

if i use firefox i lose all kinds of posting options

sonoma or jimmy wheel with airbag from similar year might fit but i cant say for sure (might be different srs plug or shaft spline count)

I get that all the time and it bothers me greatly. Like I can't watch a 20 seconds sports clip because I'm in the wrong country. How are you meant to export your sport etc. if you don't let the world watch a little video?

I mean it's sports. I don't get it. I don't get why it's so hard to watch sports. It's a 24/7 market world wide yet there are so many restrictions.

My Facebook account is temporarily locked... I just rejoined under my real name for the first time in a while, but didn't post a pic. Now they're asking for a scanned copy of government issued ID in order to regain access to my account... They can have my name, I don't care about that. I'm thinking I'll just paste some random persons face over mine and delete the account for good once I'm back in.

Oddly, my account that I use under a pseudonym (without a real picture) has never had an issue.

I haven't been in a pool comp for a couple weeks now. Went out today and I made let first round some really good playing by me. Never faulted and two good multi ball runs helped to an easy win and good long pot on the eight. Then I got this older guy I've never beaten and I had my chance. I was on the eight. Second guessed the angle and missed it. =[ booo. But I am happy enough for how I played, a win is a win down there. Good to make past first round. Is about 25mins drive so yeah, not good to get out straight away.

And now we have roast cracklings pork on rice. I flirted with Chinese girl, got 4 free spring rolls and get this. 2. That's right. Two sweet and sour sauces. For free. Maccas would charge me and not give me any.

 

my entire property is my chicken run...i am taking down my fence around the hens yard from years past and making a double high fence just way smaller....it is only for when i cant have the birds free ranging....like when the dog trials are on or people are working etc etc

from what i remember (although that isnt much) you can sex chicks for the first couple weeks by the feathers then they grow to look the same for a while.

 

they dont check much...i used my obvoius phony name and photoshopped it over id that showed my real name in another place and they didnt even notice....they even apologized for my inconvenience
