So, what kind of work did he do? The cops pretty much ran them out of our town, most likely because they couldn't stay out of trouble.

What a mess is in your mind, between Fascism and Nazism. Nobody knows that Benito Mussolini was a good fellow, completely different from Adolf Hitler. Nobody knows the how much we Italians were respected, all over the world, during Fascism. Nobody of You, people! You talk about something you do not know, because you know the History that winners wrote! You've gulped a lot of soup given you by the winners. Nobody tries to know something true about the thousands of good things Fascism -in the person of Mussolini- has done for Italy and Italian People. It's a shame that my English is a shit, is too poor to explain you what "Fascism" meant. Keep on drinking the same old story that Fascism was the Evil.

This post has been pretty interesting. From U-boat personnel to Luftwaffe flyers , i have met them all. My great uncle , Arnolf , was a German general. Saving many wounded of all nations he later had a small German town named after him. You see, my mother was raised on Nardonney , a small German island on the North Sea. She later moved to Osnabruck and married an American soldier. Ma recently died at 92. Her legacy as well. I can proudly say , my father was an explosive expert, destined to blow up bridges while hitler's "best" were crossing. Over 400 kills to his name. Being employed in the construction trades we both met and befriended many of adolf's ex foot soldiers. Some were POW's held in the US not wanting to return.
On a more somber note. Leaving the gym the other day , I noticed a young man wearing a t-shirt filled with hate speak and promoting American-nazism. When this P.O.S. realized I was reading the shirt he threatened to beat the shit out of me if I commented. I guess my facial expressions said it all. Probably the closest I came to pummeling someone I got to in years. Well, we moved on. Funny, I look very aryan. Very nordic. The asshole looked almost arabic or east indian . This still puzzles me.

What I find really hilarious are the neo-cons that try to spin that "liberals" or "democrats" are actually neo-Nazi, or fascist sympathizers. When of course, the cons are on that side of the spectrum. Some of them actually believe this.
