I think the Craigslist works better for women than for men. Men are targets for the BOTs who want you to sign up for something that will generate commissions for the person responding to your ad.

I have met some real women on craigslist, but it is very rare. My best response has been to offer my friendship as a pen pal. Some of those friends end up wanting to meet after they are comfortable, but most just want a friend. Friends are good to have.. so no problem there.
