The barefoot park is a relatively new idea; the first barefoot park in the Black Forest was opened in Dornstetten-Hallwangen as recently as 1999. The basic philosophy is that walking barefoot over a wide variety of surfaces makes people more aware of their natural surroundings. www.google.com/search?q=barefoot+parks How would you design one ?
There is a german based site with a catalog of barefoot park / paths, the site also includes an information section about building barefoot paths: http://www.barfusspark.info/ Some parts of the site are also available in englsh: http://www.barfusspark.info/en/index.htm Take care!
Well, i'm a bit ambivalent with the barefoot park idea. Probably such parks give people an impulse to try out barefooting and maybe discover how easygoing it is. On the other hand they implicite the idea that you need "special reservations" to go barefoot. But actually the whole world around you can be a barefoot park if you only try. One of the ideas of the barefoot parks is sensual experience and training, like feeling different undergrounds under your feet. But you can have this experience in every forest or even in a city with different kinds of paving etc.
I knew it wouldn't be long before someone said that. The coolest park by me sadly has this jogging and bicycle path paved with these really really rough pointy stones I don't think any bare footer, even the toughest, would last a quarter mile on. Park designers should keep in mind that some people like going barefoot in parks before paving stuff or dumping heavy gravel around. Same thing with designers of beach parking lots, making them so rough most people are forced to do the shoes on and off thing going from the car to the beach.
So does this mean shoes are banned? I would have something to say about that if they opened a park here for barefooting and I wasn't allowed to go there because I like shoes. If you want to go barefoot, go barefoot but don't expect the world to make itself easier for you to walk on.
dogs in one park....barefooters in another.....I think its fine we try and keep them both contained where they can play and frolic with their own kind and leave the rest of us alone with our deformed but happy feet
Did You Ever Consider That A Few Hours Barefoot Every Day Would Go A Long Way To Towards Helping Those Feet Heal Naturally......???? Cheers Glen.
pay attention here glen because ive told you this before....I have double subtalar fusions...that's several ounces of titanium in each foot....zero lateral movement in either feet...means I cant roll my foot left or right.... it is super uncomfortable to walk without shoes...very likely the polar opposite of what a barefooter feels with no shoes I gotta say though.....I still think its lame for an old dude[like us] to walk around barefoot....your feet wont last any longer than mine
Thanks For The "Heads Up"......I Knew That You Were Involved In A Major Accident A Few Years Back, But I Didn't Know The Exact Details..... Cheers Glen.
Most folk these days barely know how to use their legs! One step at a time... In the future we will all be naked and soap will be banned and we'll be sharing our diseases through polygamous sexual experimentation
