The only Gods down here are Iommi, Page and Geezer Butler. Repent Heretics, your soul can still be saved!
I've done some more research and it turns out it was all just a big typo. What the originator of the quote meant to say was, "Eric Clapton is Good!" However, he was so stoned he misspelled the word good. I trust this will put this urban legend to bed once and for all.
yeah.. im pretty sure that jim morrison was thrown in there too... welcome to rockism.. we need more members. haha.
Eric Clapton? Are you serious? This guy is over the hill! When was the last time he had a hit? 30 years ago? He's more concerned as most musicians of his time are with being a millionaire than making hits! He's too old he probably couldn't produce a hit. He's to out of touch with the younger generation/irrelevant. Bustramp
John Lennon...is not god..there is no god...but he certainly is an awsome man.....absinthe and weed...good combination..my hands are detached from my torso...
teepi, you barely post any more, and i for one, miss you, and your art...and your goddess-ness! i still have one of your paintings in my dining room, and one in my bedroom.
Just saw this Wonka...you're as sweet as ever. Happy you are enjoying the paintings. XXOO Goddess teepi
He is, at best, okay. Jimi Hendrix was God, and SRV was Jesus. Roger Waters is the Holy Spirit (for songwriting.)
Here's the album that started it all: That's the famous "Beano" album. Clapton is the one reading the Beano comic; that's John Mcvie on the right. This was a groundbreaking album--the birth of the modern guitar solo. Clapton holds a singular place in rock history; he was the first of the modern rock guitarists. Of course, all Clapton was doing was playing speeded up B. B. King licks (which Mike Bloomfield was also doing at the time in Chicago with Paul Butterfield), but it was how he was playing them that was the thing. Using a Les Paul and a 30 watt Marshall tube amp cranked up all the way, Clapton got a tone and sustain that no one had heard before. It also ended the ten-year reign of the Chuck Berry style of rhythmic playing that had dominated rock and roll up to that time. So get the CD, crank up "Hideaway" or "Steppin Out" and enjoy the groove...
