Enemy At The Gates... Your opinion!

I have always thought that Enemy At The Gates was a great movie ruined by the terrible accents.

The all star cast was magnificent but everyone had a different accent! It absolutely ruined the immersion for me.

Agree or disagree? What are you opinions of the film?

 

I only saw it once, long ago, I should see it again. I thought Ed Harris was great in that film.

Timely? It's a movie about World War II, the Battle of Stalingrad!

 

100% worth watching as it's a great movie. I don't think it's very historically accurate but it's well told. Some really good action scenes in it.... Just ignore the accents!

 

Well there were snipers of course, I don't know if any one of them was actually made into a cult hero in the Soviet press. But it seems like it must be a fairly accurate portrayal of the siege of Stalingrad and the street battles. If anything it may be less brutal than the actual fighting which took place there from July 1942 to February 1943.

 

yup very timely. We are watching Part II today on the news. German hardware vs Russia. Not timely enough?
