Believe it or not, some people don't just want to end the death penalty, but life imprisonment too. Campaign to End Life Imprisonment is their website, lest you think I am making it up. I know Germany is going the humane way. My question: Are they correct? And will people some day muse, who among us was on the right side of history with this one? Think about it. Me, I tend to think, Yes. Because every life is redeemable and everyone deserves a second chance. But I could be wrong. Thoughts?
Black people comprise 13.2% of the American population, but 48.3% of those sentenced to life, 56.4% of those sentenced to life without parole, and 41.7% of those sentenced to death. They're also 3.23 times more likely to be killed by police than Whites. There's no way those numbers don't violate the 14th Amendment. Sentenced to life in prison for stealing a pair of socks worth $2.50 There will always be a few exceptional individuals who are such a danger to others that they cannot be allowed parole, but that's not how the penal system works (it sure as hell can't be called a "justice system").
We have a 3-strikes (felonies) law in California - they're supposed to be serious felonies though, but there's a lot of falling-through-the-cracks discussion when it comes to that law.
In California, people have been sentenced to 25-years-to-life for stealing a bicycle, possessing less than half a gram of meth, stealing two bottles of liquor or shoplifting shampoo. That has nothing to do with public safety, and everything to do with class and race.
I think the following people deserve life in prison without parole: Donald Trump, Roger Stone, Paul Manafort, Jared Kushner, Paul Gosar, Ron Johnson, Josh Hawley, Matt Gaetz, Rudy Giuliani, and Marj. T. Greene. Gaetz should get Life plus daily feeding of tube steak, if the judge finds it appropriate.
Yes, U.S. locks people up at a higher rate than any other country The U.S. comprises about 4.25% of the global population, yet incarcerates 25% of the world's prisoners, the highest imprisonment rate per capita of any nation on Earth.
True Mister T, the private prison business really picked up during the same period of time. And the GOP has been a big advocate of private prisons.
Think this guys would be a good neighbor https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/8967382/california-murderer-torture-beheaded-prison-cellmate/ A MAN already serving life for murder is accused of torturing and cutting his cellmate’s head off. Jaime Osuna, 31, whose face is heavily tattooed, was already serving time in California’s Corcoran State Prison for a previous murder but is said to have removed several body parts from Luis Romero after sadistically torturing him.
How many strikes should one be allowed? When is it reasonable to remove an individual from society? Im not sure that blanket three strike laws OR mandatory minimums are the way to go but certain individuals definitely dont deserve to live amongst the gp (rapists. pedophiles, serial killers) you hurt a child you deserve NO MERCY
I invite anyone, who believes that some do not belong in prison for life, to take a tour of a state or federal maximum security prison.
It is pretty darn simple - New QCC movement. QUIT COMMITTING CRIMES Then you don’t have to be concerned with the death penalty and life sentence.

Of the 75 or so prisoners serving serving a whole life term in the UK, I wonder how many of them have only committed one murder or similar vile crime.? Taking the population difference into account, are their around 400 people serving a whole life term in the USA.?
