I really liked Ender’s Game growing up, but there were quite a few glaring issues with it. For starters, Ender’s Game started as a novella. But when Orson Scott Card wanted to write Speaker For the Dead and put Ender in it, he realized he would have to go back and expand Ender’s Game into a novel. Most of the stuff with Ender’s siblings and obviously the expanded ending were added for the novel. It gets very obvious in some parts too. I will say Orson Scott Card is pretty damn smart though. It seems that in the 80s (?) when he wrote it, he predicted laptop computers (which he called “desks”) and even the internet (which he called “the news nets”).
Great book. Always thought it was similar to Robert Heinlein who is my favorite author. The plot was just incredibly complex but held up throughout the book.
It is great when someone breaks the boredom by raking up old threads and getting them going again.
