marshall mathers lp is one of the best rap albums put out ever. I know a hell of a lot of rap, from mainstream to underground and i can still say taht that album is terrific. it has an awesome mix of meaningful, artsy songs, party songs and straight hardcore, i don't care what you think songs. It is a perfect rap album. Like other people have said..i'd like for his other releases to be more like that..but i still have respect for him.

Argue that? What's that mean? Is a mans bank account the true measure of a man's character? If it was, I'd go back to my old profession and quit working so hard.

I used to listen to eminem in like 5th grade and his slim shady song came out then. When i got the album I remember being disgusted by the skit where hes gettin his dick sucked and he has that weird voice. Now i know someone who talks exactly liek that its so funny.

I hate rap. I could make rap. It takes a mixing machine thing and a microphone. And of course the ability to speak in rhyme. And I dont understand why they need so many people(not neccesarily(sp) Eminem) I saw on Spike TV about 6 or 7 guys all standing around. Only one was acually doing anything. The rest were just.. grunting. Cream can make music twice as good with half the people... and actually playing an instrument. Lets see if Eminem can back up Clapton on bass and actually SING at the same time.

BTW, if you think you don't like rap, check out the artist Spook. He is actually a talented writer. It's impressive.

ok lets see clapton beat Em in a freestyle battle.

it's completely different, and i'm posative eminem can play many instruments because u dont get that far in music in ANY genre without having a wide knowledge of music in general.

If he could play instruments, he wouldn't be rapping.

Rap is for fools.. for the most part, it takes little to no talent. People rap because they suck at music and want to make a quick buck. Rap was only an art form back when there were rappers rapping about the problems that the black communities of the world (and the entire world, even) faced. But even then, it took hardly any talent to be a rapper.

There was nothing like that shit "Puke", and all this shitty "gangsta" rap, and that annoying ass crunk crap.

it takes talent to be a good rapper...watch Eminem in up in smoke, it shows what talent he has.

He's no WuTang, but he's pretty good, and he is not a very "bling bling" rapper really

    RAP = Rhythm And Poetry.

you cant hate it just because you can't do it. like 5 of you haters said you could but thats bullshit. Some of these rappers have other achievements as well. 50 was the biggest cocaine supplier for NYC at one point, Eminem went from getting his ass kicked in a trailer park to being filthy rich, Dr. Dre is the best producer of all time and he came from poor ass compton. None of you on here could hold a candle next to eminem. i gotta say though...his latest album was a piece of crap, whiny bitchy and wannabe gangster. You guys are really stupid if you think rap music takes no talent, sure rock or jamband takes alot of talent but not much more then rap. anybody saying twista sucks? no cuz he has one the worlds fastest speaker 7 years in a row.

I'm not sure being able to flow quickly is that difficult of a talent. It just requires practice. ANYONE can do it. (My own brother is terrific.) What is difficult is establishing a good beat, and Eminem actually strays from the traditional call/return pattern of rap musically, which is dumb and sounds bad. I'm not anti-rap, but Eminem is terrible. He can't write and the beat itself isn't good.

I think the Eminem/Dre tracks are some of the best rap ever.

Oh, and BTW, if you're arguing what Em writes is poetry, Em is to poetry what the dime store romance vomit is to the novel.

I don't even think it can be argued that Eminem has no talent. I'm not a huge fan, but I don't think there are many people alive that can do what he does, he's unique.

Plus he pisses people off, and generally the right people.

I think it can be argued he has no talent. If you can piss off enough people, it makes up for a lack of talent. It's not that I dislike artists who challenge the social norm, I just don't see how what he's doing is particuarly good compared to other rappers. I don't think what he does is very unique; it's very pop. Perhaps pop in rap IS unique though. That doesn't make it good. Britney Spears is unique in many respects; she's not an artist.

i recall something of jimmy page saying that when he did that kashmir song over again with p diddy that diddy didnt know what keys were.

conversation went like this: page told him that he needed to change the key of the song to make it sound better, and diddy was like i dont even know

now lyric is important, but if thats all you can do then do poetry readings and stop calling it music

wtf? LMAO. dude listen to little wing, and burning of the midnight lamp by jimi hendrix, like a rolling stone by bob dylan, midnight rider by the allman brothers... i could basically just suggest any song I like that has a vocalist that is better than eminem. Fuck vocals, who needs em, you ever heard El ron by soulive? Sasa by Medeski, Martin and wood? Frankenstein by Edgar Winter? Those both right there groove sicker than anything with eminem's voice on it. And I'm glad a song about eminem's 'beefs' with fellow 'gangstas' has had such a deep impact on people.

Eminem can't play shit, if he could, he would. And just to let you know, Eric Clapton can voice on his guitar a lot better than most, so maybe you should learn a little about his playing and song-writing abilities before even putting him in the same sledgepool as eminem.
