Good points. Ultimately the best solution for the planet is for people to stop traveling so much. It is completely unnecessary and wasteful. Cities and towns should have been designed with mass transportation options, instead of being an afterthought - for the poor. I would have an electric car if there was an easy way to recharge it with solar power, that way it would not be so harmful to the planet. Burning fossil fuel to create electricity to replace burning fuel in your car is not a solution, it is a delusion.
I was once an environmentalist at heart. Now... far from it My house runs ~90% on solar power. I don't have battery though. Just a two-way metering into the grid. I agree with you, avoid travel is the first best option. I go to work only a day or two in a week. I can WFH rest of the time. IF I get an electric vehicle, I will sure put solar on top of my car port. PS: I had heard that burning fossil fuel at power plant is much more efficient than burning fossil fuel in a vehicle.
Thanks for your input! I keep driving around to an absolute minimum. I am tempted to see the sites but it costs on so many levels - environmentally as well as from your wallet.
Charging cars from fossil fuel only benefits with the economy of scale.....commercial fossil power plants can run at over 90% thermal efficiency, where a passenger gasoline engine will run about 35%.
I had imagined making gravity + manual labor (workout) driven fans to use in summer. Never got to that project though. perhaps this subject deserves a separate thread...
How much money did Musk make selling tons of stock at it's near high point, all on the ruse of buying twitter - and not creating a stock panic with him dumping it???
I was reading about his father, who recently had a second child with his step-daughter... proclaiming that it is his duty to procreate. I vote for the Musks as being the most amazingly self centered egotistical family since the Trumps. There has been a long line of these scoundrels if you scour the pages of history for the fun of it.
Twitter is not a profitable company. Its stock price was overinflated by hype and cheap money policies. Twas bound to loose some air; Musk or no Musk.
See if he keeps his word..........on twitter........ Still think it is funny(to much money to spent/attention*sigh*) trying making a point............but he/we are better off................concentrating at tech/science lol. Mzzls
The logistics of twiitter dee and twitter dum are not in any of my graphs of LIFE -just a rabbit hole of madness
The hippies started twitter back in the 70’s with their drive by paddle boards while taking Timothy Leary at the school of Harvard with ram dass to be here now !
Here some more of the beginnings of being ‘social’ while driving down the road and feeling like throwing up an emotion of sorts ——
That's hilarious! I found the name: Paddle Talk. Sold exclusively at Kmart. It's such a '70s thing. Totally worth bringing back.
People like him have a lot of money. Therefore, they can do whatever they want. Imagine now what influence he has!
