for the record im not personally insulted. i'm just fed up of all the posturing. also, this is not an argument i suppose what im asking, put sardonically, is why are you diametrically opposed to the conservatives? what puts you on the side of the discussion? i'm quite centralist in my views. i honestly believe in conservativism but have a problem with the parliamentary party also. i was persuaded by william hague, who to me, was a dynamic thinker who was beaten by a personally very popular leader in tony blair. i think the new tories are second rate but most of the labour party are also. i have respect for keir starmer, benn etc. but i find corbyn as economically illiterate politics needs more transparency. case in point, jez has now said no that we must leave the single market. he flip flops. what sort of voting crisis must you face when you voted to remain in europe because your told it is for the benefit of the working class and then you are told by the hard left to leave for the benefit of the working class it is contrary to the highest order. bearing in mind all i have said, may i suggest why i'm ideologically pinned to conservatism. i have alluded to the point elsewhere i'm sure but we chose capitalism. we buy the cheaper good where function acts indifferently. we take the higher paying job. end of the day, we are a world have adopted capitalist intentions on a personal level, it should therefore make more sense to play the system and not oppose what we by our very nature expect. i would vote socialist if i can be persuaded that people on a personal basis are actually happy in practice, as well as theory, to accept an equal life every way. this includes what we take, not only what we are willing to receive in life. i'm not looking for a reply or argument from anyone. but if i could at least have one labour supporter think to themselves "fair enough", then i will be satisfied. i don't reject peoples beliefs and to be honest my original comment was frankly directed at people generally... all i heard in work yesterday was that people like me are personally "sick" minded (?) and it is offensive. those who shout loudest...
I think politics and politicians is a strange subject, one not everyone bothers with on an everyday thing.. Like everything, you can't please everyone.. never expect to, or your going to be disappointed your entire life. You can't call people because of their preference, or choice, it's why we have a choice. But you can't call people for choice. An election if you believe is done fare and share, then it's what it is. Could have been anyone. May won't last long, because she isn't happy enough, she doesn't show her feelings enough, she doesn't give the people hope. She is miserable, how can you have someone like her giving people faith? Corbin, yes he is a happy chap, but needs a stronger party behind him.. can you trust his back stabbers? They will be wanting to come back now.. hope he doesn't allow it. Some are going to laugh at what I just said, but you know what, simple things matter.. study phycology, you would be very surprised..
i'd say psycology had a lot to do with the election considering status, social desirability bias young people voting and admitting they "don't know much about the policies". why vote? because status, your friends did wasn't it maslow who said we had a hierarchy of needs? if he was even half right, and we must satisfy our basic needs, and in order, every other stage it is perfectly reasonable to suggest you would want to "belong to a group", but moreover, one that satisfies your basic internal sensibilities (a sense of safety for example?) in this way, where the youth vote was not only prevalent but delivered quite an aggressive line of reasoning, it is hard to really consider many other views without fear of persecution maybe buyers remorse will be the next ah well. what will be will be

DUP are so opposite to the Tories, she should be doing a deal with labour. let's face it, both parties are what the country wanted, on an almost 50,50 devide. Perhaps together they could make a happy medium somewhere..
Sadly. despite the conception of elections, it tends to be the people that lose out to the self interest of political parties most of the time.
I was away over the weekend at download festival, so i missed the opportunity to discuss the election in the immediate aftermath, but I'd like to share how I felt when I woke up on saturday: HOLY SHIT This is literally the best result that I could have reasonably expected. New Labour is dead, the Blairites are humiliated, Mandelson spins in his coffin! The Tories don't have the mandate they need to pursue a hard Brexit, May has six months to go. There's an actual legitimate opposition with public support and the Tories are weak as fuck, Austerity has been questioned on a national level and found wanting as an economic strategy, neoliberal orthodox ideology is crumbling about their ears! NEW LABOUR IS DEAD LONG LIVE THE LABOUR PARTY. The public were bombarded with one of the most ludicrous and prolonged smear campaigns from Murdoch, Dacre and the Barclay brothers and DIDN'T LISTEN. The right wing press doesn't own our elections any more! It wasn't the Sun wot won it! Young people voted intelligently, en mass, in their own interests! Sure, the road ahead is a hard one, but fucking hell, an actual left-wing labour party? a progressive opposition? not just red and blue Tories with the same economic mantra arguing over point-noughts of a percent in tax? These are things that I reasonably assumed I would never see again IN MY LIFETIME. I thought Corbyn would lose and May would get her landslide and smugly pursue the hardest possible Brexit, and all that entails, then the Blairites in the Labour party would all come wheedling out saying "Well that was a fun little experiment we all tried there for a bit where we elected a leader who actually represents the values that the Labour Party is supposed to stand for, but as we told you a thousand times, those sorts of policies just aren't electable. See? we were right to spend months deliberately and desperately trying to stab him in the back, we were just trying to protect you from yourselves. Now lets all go back to those great policies that are electable (never mind that they've lost us two elections and every seat in scotland)" Instead of that, those same pricks now have to duck and dive to explain why they spent so long trying to oust the most electable leader Labour has had in years, when he'd probably be PM right now if they'd actually got behind him instead of trying to take him down and not caring if they took the party down with him. They're fucked. Blair and Mandelson's dream is dead and good fucking riddance. We're still up a fucking horrible creek, but we just proved we're capable of voting for a paddle. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go get fucked and watch Biffy Clyro. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofex79qK3OM
to be honest... with brexit being as it is. a cross party approach where politicians actually put the country first for a change would be the most effective solution to these times there is talent and either side. i feel, where the split the way it was, this would be the only way to go forward if not for the personal reasons many politicians should leave at home.
Gove to be the new environment secretary. Let's hope he doesn't do for the environment what he did for schools.
Well, he has an arse attitude to people, do any of you actually think you know a good turn around for a Tory? Exactly!
May helps the Unemployed - ..... well if they fit a certain criteria that is - https://www.thecanary.co/2017/06/13/theresa-may-rolls-new-unemployment-benefits-tory-mps-lost-seats/
It's not over yet, untill we get the Queens speach.. Untill then, she hasn't officially got her government together. I think she chose wrong, and I think it's going to cause problems in Ireland. Who knows what will happen, or when.. But she won't give up without a fight!
There appear to be problems in the discussions between the Tories and the Democratic Unionists over the Ulster party’s 10 MPs supporting a minority Conservative government. As Henry McDonald reports, senior DUP sources have told the Guardian this afternoon that the negotiations “haven’t proceeded the way we would have expected.” They added that the DUP “can’t be taken for granted” in ongoing discussions with the Conservatives. The Tories want a “confidence and supply” arrangement with the DUP that would guarantee that they get the DUP’s support in confidence motions and key budget votes. They can probably survive without a deal, because they still outnumber all other opposition parties in the Commons apart from the DUP by two, and because the DUP would not vote against them in a division that could lead to Jeremy Corbyn becoming prime minister. But passing legislation without a deal would be much harder. McDonald reports.
