The setting and how it is worked out is the main (pretty much only) thing that intrigues me of this online game. Just to see how the chronology, countries and cities are worked out.
So when I saw Manservant mentioning Ebonheart I couldn't resist take a search to see how it looked like in the game (Morrowinds imperial city) but now I'm not sure she was talking about that city :p

It truly is just another MMO though, not to say it didn't improve from the MMO games, the first person is an incredible attribute.

But starter islands, (3 to be exact), Leveled zones, pointless quests, ESO didn't market itself as only an MMO it marketed itself as 'The Next Installment of the Elder Scrolls' And they failed to deliver. You are PUNISHED for exploring this world... plus monthly payments, in game exclusive content that you have to pay extra for, and the upfront cost of the game... holy shit I hate you ESO

I was never attracted to MMO's in the first place ;) But I have been in love with the Elder scrolls since Morrowind got released.

    Punished for exploring the world?
I'm not really understanding what you mean?
Slaughterfish? I finally fished one of those the other day. The revenge felt good.

Is it worth the price? How does it compare to other rpgs and mmorpgs?

It's pretty much the same ole mmorpg.
I haven't really played one in a long time so I'm getting some novelty out of it where others might not. Also, I have friends in game which bumps up it worth, to me.

First off the starter islands... it literally takes 3 hours to even get to the Main land of Tamriel. and that's if you rush through the quests.
First you have your classic tutorial as a prisoner
The next island is decided by which alliance you choose (option of 3.. not sure about imperial edition)
Then you enter a second island before you arrive to Tamriel

*you can not escape from these islands, swimming doesn't work, ships won't take you, it can only be done by continuing the main quest*
I have played as all three alliances.

Now you're on Tamriel.. you can explore right? WRONG With there leveling system, it is nigh impossible to enter a zone that is even 2 levels higher than you. and even one level higher is tough. I was able to run past almost lots of battles to explore, but it becomes frustrating when one wrong moves causes you and death and an inconvenient starting location from the way shrines.

The art is better than I had anticipated, but still not the lovable photo-realism that skyrim achieved. Understandable, but kind of feels foreign. Character models look straight out of Oblivion.

The voice acting seems like an even smaller cast than Skyrim! And is just overall terrible, ever single NPC seems to sound the same, have some random problem, and your on some gay little quest killing pigs

The main storyline IMO was bland.. that's more of an opinionated topic though for the game.

Multiplayer, absolutely a cool addition to this. the PVP is the seller on this game.

Crafting and leveling sucked, took all the joy out of it, felt like crafting in Guild Wars 2 and possibly WoW. Leveling took much longer, which i guess can be taken either way.

The user interface is stolen from skyrim, a good choice that allows for easy organization and clear labels. The game is also basically full screen, without all of the pop-ups of quests and shit, so it allows for a very in depth feel while you play

Side-stories/Guilds. Playing in the mages guild and Fighters Guild felt very annoying, like running errands for strangers once again. Not a lot of distinction or storyline.

My impressions are still firm, You will like this game from an mmorpg perspective, but as an Elder Scroll fan, you will be very disappointed.

    And then BAM!
    Necroed!

Are any of you still playing?
I've been in it since Beta and haven't stopped since then.
It's pretty much exactly what I expected of an MMO version of Elderscrolls.

It's also changed A FUCKTON since any of these posts were made.
Like the end-game content changing from Veteran levels to a Champion system.
Or NPCs now having that lip-synch thing where they look like they're saying what they're saying.
Or the ability to steal from and/or kill NPCs.
An entire thief (Legerdemain) skill line.

There's been an insane amount of updating and clean up.

I think I currently have 6 (of 8) character slots filled
    My highest level is 22.
And I'm loving every minute of it!!

Oh yeah, Sleepy Cat, I'm not sure what was going for you, but I have no problem soloing in areas that are at least a level or two above me.
And can fairly easily mitigate even higher than that.
Are you still having that issue?

    Oh... it's also B2P now.

I've been playing it on Xbox One since week 1. I had pre-ordered it about 18 months before it came out on Xbox.

I agree, they did do a lot of clean up on the game now from beta, pc/mac, to console.

Still as a company, they basically had people pay for a couple years to fund their 'beta' testing (The actual beta was free, but they had PC users pay monthly fees and buy the game a year before it was re-released as ESO Tamriel Unlimited B2P and ported to console). Somebody needs to put some sort of law in place that games can't be released and purchased before their complete.

The game's a much better deal now at Buy to Play. I would recommend it to mmo or Elder scroll fans

(I've played beta, pc, mac, and ps4 versions)

Lol, I hear ya... my wife pre-ordered it as a present for me (I think it was my birthday) for when it was first available.
    That took FOREVER!

Luckily, she also got the PC pre-order for me at the same time... so I've been able to play on PC while waiting for Xbox.
I'm spending much more time on the PC version, but that's only because I have limited time to play at all and I tend to play Minecraft when I'm on Xbox.

I wouldn't quite put it that way.
I mean, it's not like our characters have been wiped... and any major changes were accompanied with being able to re-distribute your skill points (for free).
Plus, we got some subscriber rewards along the way.

I like how Bethesda has handled it.
Not just in going B2P instead of F2P, but in responding to criticism and critique from the community.
The biggest change was bringing in the Champion system, which required a major reworking of what had existed already.

But really, we should just get around to posting screenshots of our characters. :)

    D'OH!
    lol

I thought maybe it was Vet at first, but I didn't realize the icon was there and figured it was just a new character.

Also, kudos to you... I would never make it to Vet with only 1 character in my roster.
I currently have 6 or 7 on my PC account and 2 on Xbox... my highest is (still) lvl 22.
(I've mostly been playing my (2 month old) Dark Elf Nightblade, who's now lvl 17 or 18.)
