footprint is 16. we'd need 3.5 earths to support people like me. it's hard to minimize much more. i already buy only what i need and i try to buy recycled products as much as possible. even though the town i live in doesn't have a recycling pickup (which truly truly erks me,) i still recycle glass, plastic and paper. i have to drive 20 miles to put it in recycling bins. i also have a compost pile, and a garden where i grow as much of my food as possible. my biggest problems are transportation and energy use. i live 20 miles from work and school, so public transportation/carpooling is not possible. i also cannot afford any solar panels or energy saving devices so i'm stuck with central air and heat. however, i do keep it as cold as possible in the winter and just bundle up inside, and open all the windows in summer using AC only when it's absolutely necessary. i can only pray that things will change soon, i hate to think that every day our population is getting larger, producing more waste, consuming more energy and emitting more pollutants into the air. we have to do something, but i think we're stuck with individual and group efforts until ol' G.W. is the hell out of office. i mean honestly, if the United States wants to be a nation for others to look up to, shouldn't we have stayed in the Kyoto treaty? Since the U.S. probably releases more emissions that any nation, shouldn't we have mandatory emission regulations and not voluntary regulations, which, when analyzed, will allow U.S. emissions to increase 14% in the next 5 years? gotta love bush. not... -A
also, if anyone else finds another planet to move to, i'm all in buddy!! cuz it won't be long till this place blows up or just plain dies
my footprint is 11 and we would need 2.4 planets, which isnt bad, because since i live with my parents and im not an adult, a lot of the things i couldnt change, like miles per gallon of the car i ride in but i dont think there are too many people who have the right size footprint (so that we would only need 1 earth) so how are we surviving? is it just that poor starving people even things out?
footprint is 1.9, so 1.1 planets needed. hmm, now where to get that point one of a planet? maybe i'll dig a big hole and live inside the earth... toasty :sunglasse
9, 1.9 planets, better start lookin at mars edit: The quiz is spun though, using hydroponics (which it does not mention) you could decrease the footprint substantially, also the lowest it can go is 1.0 earth (I fiddled with it) in all reality if everyone was minimum on all of those questions on that quiz even with 6 billion people we'd be using less than one earth, it extrapolates negativly either way, it either assumes everyone is evil like you or that enough people are evil that your eco-goodness doesn't matter The quiz is bullshit
