The other viruses from the congo aren't killing people by the thousands in countries like Sierra Leone and Liberia. That's probably why it is not making a case like ebola at the moment...

if everyone quit worrying so much about it, quit trying to save every single person infected and just let the virus run it's course it would be over relatively shortly, like it has for god only knows how many centuries.
Ebola is a horribly inefficient virus as it kills the host too fast and is only transmitted via contact with infected tissue/fluids.

It is the practice of the family washing and preparing the dead, coupled with poor overall sanitary conditions in these areas and you have the makings of an epidemic that would/could never really happen in any highly developed nations with set and prescribed practices for handling the dead; coroners and morgues, good sanitation systems, etc.

now give ebola the ability to be airborne, allow it to have a longer infectious stage prior to major symptoms manifesting and a more prolonged course (it kills too fast) THEN you would have something the world should worry about.

Until then I'm not gonna sweat it, I'll just watch the chicken littles of the world run around all frantic and shit.

More people are dying every single day from influenza than ebola.

Media hype, feeding all the hypochondriacs of the world.

To what end do you think that the media is hyping this?

That would be important to learn, I think.

The risk of catching ebola vs influenza is minimal but what are we seeing more of in the media?

Like many big news stories, it is being used to instill fear, which in turn results in further control for the government. I also believe they're going to use this to push through a dangerous and untested vaccine that could possibly be forced on all of us. It's no coincidence (at least in my opinion) that this is happening at the same time we're being bombarded with propaganda about ISIS and so many other things.

Or, if they don't "force" a vaccine on us, maybe there is money to be made in selling us vaccine.

    ?
    Sensationalism?
    Distraction from more important things?
Keep people in fear, fight, flight mode?
That is what the media does.....it is constant on one particular story
for whatever reason, people are riveted to the story?
    I don't know...just some theories....

I think it's as simple as instillation of fear makes media viewing/ratings higher = more money.

There is money in simply manufacturing a vaccine. The government does not need to sell it to us, as it already steals our money then gives to the people who make these vaccines.
