The 3 of us are wanting to grow into a commune, starting by expanding the living arrangements in our home. Right now, our structure is paying the bills with regular PT jobs and spending free time pursuing our artistic endeavors. Anyone serious about pursuing their art and can hold down a PT job is welcome to apply, but we are very selective at this stage and have already formed bonds that will last a lifetime. We're on the young side and private-minded so you should probably be the same. If seriously interested in becoming part of a family and an idea larger than yourself, IM some information about: what kind of art you do, what your aspirations are, what kind of job you can get, previous commune or joint living experiences, etc. We want to make sure anyone who joins will fit in well, is not looking for a free ride, and will take advantage of this opportunity for creativity.
Little aside here....so many do not realize that in a fledgeling community the first few people either make it or break it....it's hard to keep going if you end up fighting. Stick to your guns about being careful that the next couple of people are of like mind and resposible.
Thanks for all the responses... however, it appears due to the site changes I did not receive some PM's and possibly other communications. If I haven't responded to you, please message me again.
An interesting take on an art community in a city, though I don't think anyone lives there, is The Goat Farm in Atlanta. An art community would have to be very close to self sufficiency unless it's close to an economic center than can augment or support employment.
