If you do not get it now, you never will. It isn't my fury with YOU in particular, it is the whole trend of the matter. I apologize if I have offended or angered you, it was a bit out of place.
its fine, im used to getting that same attitude from pretty much everyone. i just don't see the need to post and be negative with no cause? it was kiiind of unnecessary.
Don't let Sarah_Again discourage you. Recycling is better than tossing garbage on the freeway. Eating local is better than flying shrimp 5x around the world to land on ur dinner plate. You want to make it black or white, all or nothing. Life's not like that Sarah, and your whole dogmatic personality is based on the fact that she isn't living like a 17th century farmer. Help is help, and no matter what degree of help it is it is still always working towards making things better. Green isn't always some corporate sponsored counter-campaign to buy consumer votes and doesn't truly change the corporate agenda. Any degree of movement towards a Greener life is good, and maybe eventually you can get someone to go "all the way". Baby steps are important. You gotta lead people slowly along the path, not push them across a cliff into a dark abyss. Spreading awareness is just as important as changing yourself. Humans move as societies and bodies, and power of many in like mind trumpets the fragmented few. Why not sponsor local co-ops? Make a website / blog / Earth Team twitter that will give out important notices. You could even promote local sustainable crafts n stuff like that. You could have local potlucks (it takes much less energy to cook 5 big meals than 100 smaller). Promote communal thinking (buy in Bulk at Sam's Club and save $$$!!! All you gotta do is plan a healthy meal plan for the week). Promote carpooling to school. Teach people about what makes health animals (cows eat grass, not grain!!!). Why not promote eating local game (MUCH cheaper and healthier). You can even go on forest/park walks and pick wild edibles. Get people's hearts in tune with nature and they'll get pulled towards Her.
Basically all of this. No one, even the hardcore environmentalists are perfect, but doing something, anything, is the first step. Rise above the people who give you crap and be the better person, because you are making a difference.
Many of the hardcore environmentalists are so blinded by their narrow view of what works that they attack anything that goes against them. Many hardcorists believe that the only way to exist is to go 17th century or very primitive. They can't imagine a world with super technology and balance because they are so strung up on how the world IS. I do not believe this is the case. I believe the only thing holding us back from seeing a better world is corruption, fear, and hatred. As long as it's helping the world it's all good. No matter how big or small, any step towards Truth is just that.
Prepare for disaster, learn how to grow your own food, learn about the food system. When you get old enough, show your family that they need to consider the fact that our food system is nearing a collapse. This is the most contrcutive thing you can do at this point. Signs, spreading awareness, is impossible, to reach the extent that we need it at. Tsurgi, we already argued about this. Scarcity and primitive technology is what the wealthy class require to keep their power. Do you think that oil companies would be happy with fuel efficiency that goes multiple times beyond our current standards? Wait what a stupid question, they love it when 60% of their profits get thrown out the window due to declining needs for gas in the super efficient vehicles. How pompous am I to assume otherwise? Learn about the food system crisis and get yourself ready for the worst, your a smart girl and your integrity deserves to be rewarded, it will be the people who intnetionally decide to not speak about 'hard truths', the ones that deny the existence of environmental problems that will suffer the consequences. Get a College degree ASAP and milk the economy for your freedom. Buy a peice of land, far from major cities and permaculture till you drop.
Oh God, it's ChangeHappens. Unfortunately I won't have the luxury of arguing with you. No debates here brotha.
i'm the president of an ecology club at my school. we're getting solar panels for the school. we had an art contest, of 'eco designs' for posters to be put across the school. do the same? there's a 'veggievan' that travels across the country, that gets invited to events. its run entirely on vegetableoil, and you can charge 100 cell phones with the solar roof. you could request it to come to your town, at some event, to get even more awareness.
i do agree with you, but its useless arguing with people. there are people who are passionate about caring for the earth, and then there are those who have other things to do.
i honestly do not believe that this girl lives such a strict lifestyle as she claims. i have done alot to be more green, and i have forced my family to, as well, but it just isn't something that everyone does, even though alot pretend to. i dislike those who pretend to, but don't-_-
