I remember when MTV first started because everybody was talking about it... I didn't have a TV and was too busy to care much anyways. I did have over 400 record albums at the time so there was no lack of music going on. You know, those big huge black things that looked like CD's...
i never watched a lot of music videos. most of my music video memories involved beavis and butthead talking over them.
I tried to sneak downstairs to watch MTV's launch. I missed the actual launch but I joined in pretty soon after. I don't remember if Take It On The Run by REO Speedwagon was the first one I saw, but it's the one I remember from that night. I didn't watch very long before I got back into bed.
I'm pretty sure this came out a few years before I ever watched MTV but it was replayed now and then and left a lasting impression.
I read a lot of your posts, and I've come to the conclusion that we are pretty close to the same age.
I remember seeing this for the first time on Channel 17 from Atlanta, Night Tracks on Friday nights. Berlin from 1981.
Michael Jackson-Thriller. I was a little girl and it scared the shit out of me but I was obsessed with it. MTV was new when I was little. I had a teenage sister so we watched a lot of MTV back when it played music in the 80s.
