First time hearing of this incident. A Google search didn't turn up anything out of the ordinary, I don't see any details that look suspicious or would seem to indicate that anything unnatural happened to these people... from what I've read, a bunch of people froze to death in the mountains. Do we know the exact circumstances under which they died that night? Nope, nobody survived and therefore the only true account of what happened that day died along with those hikers on that mountain side.. If I had to speculate, I don't see anything that indicates this couldn't have been an avalanche (or maybe they thought an avalanche was coming- hence the abruptly cut open tent and them running outside without proper equipment). According to Wikipedia, some of the group had run off in a hurry in a different direction and fallen down a ravine like 13 feet or so... Considering that none of the other bodies had signs of major traumatic injuries, this seems to suggest that 3 or 4 of the hikers had started off in a different direction and fell down a ravine, thus causing the injuries they were found with (and they were found at the bottom of the ravine)... The tongue being missing from one of the bodies was the only part that seemed even remotely out of the ordinary about this whole story. Then again if you fall 13 feet down a ravine and you're not expecting it, its quite possible you could land in such a manner that causes your jaw to slam shut, and if you're tongues in the way you can probably kiss it goodbye. It seems like this would be relatively easy to determine; were there teeth marks along the edge of the remaining portion of the tongue that align with the shape of the teeth/jaws? I couldn't find any real specific details about the missing tongue online, but it seems more likely to me that this happened as opposed to something unnatural or "paranormal" .. As far as the "orange skin", it was probably actually a light brown/tan shade that is very typical of frost-bite. When a corpse is stuck in negative temperatures for days on end, I'm sure its going to change some funky colors... One of the first results I read from a Google search gave the same explanation for the radiation that SunLion already mentioned; the lanterns they were using. From Skeptoid: I dont mean to rain on anyones parade, but it looks like there's nothing at all unusual about this one... sorry guys!
Hi Everyone! First of, I'm not a native speaker so forgive my grammar mistakes. I came across this story about two weeks ago and was intrigued immediately. I did some research and found a few sites with extensive info on the event. Here's one that includes even diary entries by the members and autopsy results: http://www.ermaktravel.com/Europe/Russia/Cholat- Syachil/Kholat Syakhl.htm Some of the bodies were found without clothes but the investigators thought that was due to the surviving members undressing their dead friends and used their clothes to keep warm. You can even set up a timeline by the way the bodies were dressed. Yuri Yudin set out with the Dyatlov group but fell ill on day 1 and had to return to Vizhay (last populated settlement) and he identified the clothing when the bodies were found. I don't think paradoxical undressing was the case, as the group tried their best to preserve their lives. They didn't separate actually, the track that lead investigators to their bodies show clearly that they mostly stayed together after bolting from the tent. Here and there some veered off but then returned to the group. From the tracks and the clothing it seems that they ran toward a wooded area and stopped under a cedar tree where they managed to start a fire. The cedar trees branches were broken off up to 5 meters (15 feet) up, indicating that they tried to climb up, just guessing to get a better view of the tent on the slope. 4 bodies were indeed found in a ravine under 4 meters (about 12 feet) of snow where they managed to dig a den to keep themselves warm. They were probably the last ones to die. They didn't all die of hyperthermia. 3 of them sustained internal injuries and died of them. As for the gray hair, I've seen autopsy photos, Dyatlov is very well preserved and his hair wasn't gray at all. Neither of other two members of the group that I've seen. Two members who were least dressed died under the cedar tree. They were probably the first ones. 3 members headed back to the tent, one of them was Dyatlov, they couldn't reach the tent, died on the way, one by one. As for avalanche, the investigators examined the area and there was no visible sign of damage from avalanche. Nor was the tent covered with snow. There's a photo that was taken on their last day where you can see gear that stayed in vertical postion, you can discover it in same position in search group's photo. If they thought that an avalanche was coming, I can understand that they would want to get out of their tents fast and run for safety. But as experienced skiers they would have realized very quickly that there was no avalanche and could have returned to their tents. Something frightened them to a point that they left their tents barefoot, some of them wearing hardly any clothes and that something kept them away. They didn't dare return and rather tried to make it in the woods. I'd say that's the most mysterious part as far as I'm concerned.
After viewing the dyatlov incident on you tube,it is clear to me that something VERY unusual happened there and scared the shit out of them that day.Around the same time, some mysterious lights were seen in the sky by people from the nearest village. That area claimed 9 other lives on a different incident and even the locals don't venture out into that zone, saying it is too dangerous and calling it "the dead valley" if I remember correctly.Something creepy is going on there and btw, there's other places on earth just as deadly and creepy (mysterious) that don't make much of the news..... I wonder
