Didn't even have to go into a skip for these, they were in boxes beside it. I think the person who put them there was hoping somebody picked them up, as it would have been just as easy to throw them into the skip.

Some for me, lots for a charity shop, and a couple for amazon :)

I found a big blue tank of nitrous behind a med.clinic once. It was practically full too. Took it tour and returned it when it was empty. Love dumpster diving!

I have never eaten out of a garbage can/dumpster, however I have gotten household items (furniture/decor) from various places.

I also work in a full buffet restaurant and understand how how grossly spoiled we are as a society. There are people who are starving, and I watch people eat like there is and endless supply of food.

To those knocking dumpster diving and the likes...back off a little and try to remember that "to each their own." As long as you aren't the one doing it, it really doesn't matter.

I'm currently using an IBM thinkpad I got out of a dumpster.

I found a set of two pentium II's outside the thrift store, and put together one hot rodded one. DVD player, 288mb RAM, etc, boots a superlight linux distro and runs from RAM instead of disk (they pulled the drive before throwing it out) but as a consequence of being lightweight and in RAM, runs faster than most peoples modern laptops. My spreadsheet opens faster than your excell, no matter WHO you are.... promise.

    unfortionately not.

Lots of thrift stores throw out fucktons of electronics because they don't want to bother testing them, etc.... They probably turned these on and where too stupid to see that they wouln't work without HARD DRIVES.....

I can only imagine the waste in larger cities. Here it's bad enough..... I think anyone throwing out gold/lithium/copper/other precious metals (especially in dumpsters where they'll kick you out if they find you rummaging, like this one) should be fined a rather hefty sum.

    People are throwing away everything.....

Never got a bike out of a dumpster, but I got an alright one out of a snowbank where it'd been, upside down, for a few weeks. I got my several hundered dollar vintage touring bike for $1 at a yard sale, doubtless saving it from the dumpster.

How often do you come across used needles/syringes?

    Any special gloves to wear?

    Never found one.

Dumpsters with needles in them probably usually are NOT the same ones that will have anything good in them, anyways.
