This is why liberals are fascist.

You set a standard by which you judged intelligence, then later called foul when someone else did the same. Hence you are a hypocrite. Nice try with the red herring though.

People do that all the time (judge intelligence), and that's fine. That is not the fucking point. There is a big difference between that and what FR is proposing. He basically champions thought policing (I don't) based on what HE thinks is right. I am sure you do, too.

People are hypocrites consistently, I'll give you that. But I don't think it's fine.

I'm neither advocating or am arguing against his point. What I'm calling you is a hypocrite, which is true.

Based on nothing, like most of your opinions.

Yeah, I am asking who are you or anyone else is to decide that? You're basically promoting a Nazi viewpoint and you don't even realize it. I suppose you believe in eugenics, too, just like the Nazis did.

I was talking about judging people's intellect. I am fine with that, since we all do it. What I am not fine with is people who think they have the power to make the determination as to who is intelligent and who isn't as a way of gaining an upper hand over people. That is fascist.

I would prefer to have intelligent leaders.
That doesn't mean they should be authoritarian.

But when you are in favor of the ideology you're promoting, authoritarianism is exactly what you end up with.

You seriously think that everyone is born with equal amounts of intelligence, or at least chooses to develop a reasonable, well-informed perspective on things?

There's a difference between two people having an informed, intelligent debate and tolerating an idiot who appeals to hatred and ignorance.

No, obviously not everyone is born with equal amounts of intelligence, but why should intelligence alone be a determining factor in anything? There are plenty of people in positions of power who intelligent, and they're also psychopathic killers.

Tolerating idiots who appeal to hatred and ignorance is part of free speech, whether you like or not. You want to regulate what people can and cannot say, and that can only result in fascism when that mentality is allowed to flourish. Who gets to decide what/who is intelligent and what/who isn't?

Intelligent people tend to be more competent than unintelligent people. Would you trust someone with an IQ of 75 to design a lunar lander?

I don't know who you're specifically referring to when you talk about 'psychopathic killers', but I really don't think that intelligence makes people insane, or that stupid people can't be psychopathic killers.

That's why I think being so overly protective of the 'right' to free speech is dumb.

Think about a classroom in a school. What are you going to accomplish if you let the dumbest kid in the class keep disrupting your perfectly rational and objective discussion of a topic because he wants to make motorboat noises and throw paper at everyone? That's going to drag everyone down and the other kids won't be able to learn anything. It's best to shut him down, or usher him into a special needs class where he can torture other idiots with his bullshit.

    They're not the same thing.
But I guess since everyone's an authority, words can mean whatever we want!

I'm not in favor of what Phil Robertson said, but it's a bit concerning that he got suspended for it.
