When the customers are upset, as they were, then the business has to respond to it, if they don't then they are condoning it by continuing to profit from it. Especially in the eyes of any advocacy groups. And if you don't think advocacy groups can wreck havock on your business, then...well I dunno.

There are many words for it, I saw you being accused of it before. Depending on the topic it might not be worth the effort or if you give your convo partner the feeling you are just digging in his words to prove him wrong, while actually we can have opposite opinions about this show just fine... so you can't prove him wrong. The problem being that 90% of the media in the US is owned by just 20 companies, largely ideologically in lock step. Or in other words, there is no real free speech or ideological diversity.

Without that free speech, we also do not live in a real democracy.

If the tv were spouting racist and homophobic crap all the time (and indeed, they once did quite a bit of that), would you be equally satisfied with media companies making content decisions at their own discretion?

 

Like Fox? They have thier rights too, my satisfaction would have nothing to do with what they choose to air as long as it's legal.
