Taking drugs to make you happy (recreationally) makes me sad. I secretly pity everyone who does.

I'm confused, when I take drugs I'm usually happy and although I don't take them specifically to be happy, that is a nice part of it. Do you mean it that way or in the way an alcoholic will drink to forget about life or whatever and feel good?

I mean taking drugs solely on the reason of getting happy or getting "fucked up".

Why exactly would you pity people who do drugs because they're fun?

Eh, I don't see anything wrong with it. I'd rather be high than suffering through depression. When it comes down to dependence, though, is when it begins to get sad.

You haven't seen dependence until you've seen someone pawn their own bed to buy more blow to cook up.

Everyday use is pretty lame. If used every once in awhile I have no problem.

It's just sad when people can't have fun without drugs.

Yeah. I was at a party and people were talking to me about Phish. I told them I saw them in concert a few times, and they asked about pot. I was like, "It was there, but I didn't smoke any." They were like "oh...."

Some people just have to be lame like that.

Didn't say that I had depression, I said I'd rather be high than depressed. I don't see how you can form an opinion on what gave a person depression when you don't said person or their situation, either.

I was just saying that smoking weed can be a good stress reliever.

I think drugs eventually heighten, instead of giving, disorders like depression.

I stated that is was my opinion.

You're right, I don't know you, but often times when someone is depressed, and using drugs, the drugs may coincide with possible triggers for the mental condition.

Marijuana doesn't relieve/mask stress, it will be there regardless of how much you smoke. If you're using it as a way to escape stress, perhaps you should reevaluate what you get out of using drugs...

Okay, to put it a bit clearer-I'm saying that after a long week of school, smoking a few bowls on the weekend really helps me unwind. Weed helps relieve stress for me, I don't know why it doesn't work that way for you.

I don't need to reevaluate what I get out of using drugs. I have expanded my mind and become extremely open-minded in my time as a drug user, though I don't knw I assure you that I'm not someone who uses drugs solely for the reason to ignore my problems. I do use drugs for fun, but I don't need to. I usually spend my highs sharing deep thoughts with my friends, playing or listening to music, writing, whatever. But, sometimes I take a vacation from the pure enlightenment that drugs are intended for and just enjoy myself.

But it does relieve stress. It may not be the case for you, but I can attest to it. It allows you to think about your stresses in a more calm manner. It's actually very productive if you make it so.

People do loads of shit to escape stress. They jog for miles (runner's high, anyone?), smoke cigarettes, play music, jack off, yell obscene things at random people, throw sharp objects at fragile things, etc. etc. You get the picture.

Smoking some weed shouldn't be portrayed as such a bad thing.

    It did for a while...

I moved on to healthier stress relievers such as exercise.
