Why, thank you.... I don't always drink to get drunk. I drink to relax, calm myself down, with dinner, for breakfast.
ah, ale. I am a connoisseur of ale, I drink way to much of the stuff. As ale goes, British Ale is where it's at- the Europeans don't really sell the stuff, they make some great largers. And Tipsy, if you want to relax, don't drink take a bath or something. And take a book with you, not a bottle of your favourite whiskey...
In this case it would be a bottle of wine Actually - some of the best evenings I have had alone, have been in the bath, with a glass of red and a book. I know people who only drink to get drunk and it bugs the life out me, when it becomes the only social thing they do. Like I like going to the pub for a drink or two, but when you go with people who will always only want to get pissed, it ruins it for me.
you're talking to another! I would rather go for coffee, if I was going to say sober.. I've never drank a drop of alcohol whilst home alone, so I don't think my philosophy is so terrible. I enjoy a good drink once a week.
american beer is growing. there's a much wider range of uniquely american styles of beer than anywhere else in the world. maybe thirty years ago, the best beer came from europe. now it's pouring out of breweries in every state. americans have even created their own styles in the past few years. and i agree. miller is piss. try www.beeradvocate.com *edit*- to answer your earlier query, some people drink beer for the *gasp* flavor of it. i host beer tastings at my house once a month where we open up on average of 10 different beers and share them, each in a unique style (pale ale, imperial stout, pumpkin ale, belgian witbiers, etc). sure, we get drunk cuz usually these beers are upwards of 7% alcohol (some up to 15) but that's not the sole reason we get together.
I love hops, their Pale Ale is basically an IPA light, which is perfect for my tastes. I can understand someone not liking their beers since everyone will have different tastes, but if you hate it then you probably don't like beer much period. We all have different tastes, but I just don't get how you could hate Sierra Nevada if you like good beer haha.
I agree with you about drinking, but not about weed. I like to smoke, but just to relax or to help with nausea, if I actually get stoned I have panic attacks and other unpleasant things happen. Not a good time.
I like beer plenty, I just happen to hate that particular kind. I really don't see how that equals 'I don't like beer' Actually everyone I know in my area dislikes Sierra Nevada.
I doubt it's a culture thing. I'm the same way. I really enjoy alcohol, but in my opinion it's to get drunk. It's just not something I'd necessarily have a few of for the sake of relaxing or enjoying the taste, though sometimes I do. I can find other ways to relax or socialize than to drink alcohol. Whereas like antithesis said, I enjoy smoking small-medium amounts of weed. Too much of some good weed can make me uncomfortable and not very functional.
Drinking at night makes me sleepy, and then I wake up at 4 in the morning and can't go back to sleep. There's no better way to start my day than with tequila and orange juice.
There's actually been an increase in new, very well brewed tasty beers in Canada, mostly Ontario that I know of, lately. Craft brewed quality beer at watery American beer prices. Now I'm thristy.
That particular kind? Sierra Nevada is a brand name, not one type of beer. But we could narrow it down to their Pale Ale. I checked beeradvocate.com to see if I overestimated how popular it is, and I didn't, it has an A minus rating. That website has user ratings by real beer drinkers, so I typically trust it. I guess that could make it overrated, but it's still a great beer imo. I'm curious, what beers do you like if you do not enjoy the simplistic beauty of a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale?
yes im interesed in what Sierra Nevada brews you've had antithesis. they make a lot of different types of beers
