This next dream started me out falling through a strange tunnel. It was burgendy in color with veins protrusions and cracks. I twisted and turned until I came to a small domed room that was the same color and theme, but opposite me were now two holes leading into tunnels. I jumped through the right hole and continued the same process until finall I fell into a vast room made of the same material and was square in shape. Two inches of water filled the entirety of the room. I stepped toward the center and looked onto the floor. to my astonishment a large symbol was engraved in the center of the room. The outline was a large circle and a six sided star filled it. Hundreds of smaller symbols filled in the star and the circle. After taking in the view it suddenly glowed brilliantly and blinded me. I awoke from the brightness.

    That's awesome.

I have a weird belief about passage ways in dreams. I think they represent traveling the brain. For example, I once dreamed of a long, long hallway with succeeding doors. Get to one door, there's another and another and another .. all the way to the end. When I got to the end, I fell out into a parking lot on a really bright, sunshiney day. I concluded that I traveled from the right hemisphere of my brain to the left and that the hall of doors was the Corpus Callosum.

That does sound like an amazing dream. I miss having dreams that are otherworldly. For a while I was actually having dreams with tunnels too. I remember one where there were so many stars around me. The stars were so bright and I went sliding down the tunnels and wasn't scared at all. It was a fun dream.. it actually sounds really similar to yours. It kind of sounds like we visited the astral plane.

I would concur that this could be astral travel or something much like it. The first question I would ask you is about how all of this made you feel while you were dreaming.

I felt a strong sense of fear as I fell down the first tunnel until I reached the bottom then I felt curiosity when I reached the choice of tunnels. then enticement as I drew closer to the symbol. Surprise when the light flashed and I awoke.

One of the most recurring themes in my dreams for a long time (3-5 years) has been about tunnels. Underground tunnels like the OP described. Also with water.
The main emotion experienced during the initial stages of being in a deep cavernous place with water is, primarily, fear. After which, it becomes a curiosity, and going deeper and deeper into the maze it becomes an anxious excitement.
'Portals' would not be a inaccurate way of describing such things, as often they end up in very different places, populated by a sparse, but utterly symbolic, array of characters.
A lot of the times, I experienced that these tunnels would lead me into open fields, often with the soft light of an early dusk in the background.

tunnels are good. tunnels are fun. i have a little bit different take on them maybe. some are build by people. some are built by nature. some have places added on or into them by people. of both kinds of tunnels. and these things interest me.
