Awww! I love fat cats, you can snuggle with 'em for hours and they're too lazy to run off.

    My critters:

    "Ace", my corgi puppy-

    My kittys, "Boots" & "Wubs"-

    "Buster", my fluff ball-

The rest of the cats are strays and never sit still long enough to snap a picture.

    Ugh.. Spin doctor.

All the cats living in my home would have been euthanized by the animal shelter had I not claimed them as pets. Are you suggesting I should have let them die Mr. Know-it-all? Animals have no sense of what their reality ought to be, they have instinct. As long as we respect the nature of animals and their basic rights as living creatures- I see nothing wrong with a symbiotic animal/human relationship.

Your thesaurus won't impress or persuade me.

Who said I keep my animals anywhere? They roam inside and out- funny that they return every night on their own, don't you think?

You seem to be missing the point.

These animals would not have life if they were not my 'pets'.

I don't dictate when my pets go outside, they tell me when they want out and I open the door for them. Yeah, my pup is walked on a leash, because he likes to run out into traffic and I would prefer to keep him alive.
If anything, my animals dictact how I live my life, not the other way around...

It is not my goal to impress or persuade you.

I am not missing any point....you "saved" them from euthanasia (do you want a medal?) and instead of releasing them raised them in your local existence. And no, it is not funny that they return every night....you feed them do you not? Animals in the "wild" will return to the same water hole or feeding ground for their entire life so long as there is still water and food.

And what if you are gone, or asleep? Once you do open the door for them, do you have acres of land or a backyard? Can they roam freely when and where they want?

I'm not trying to say you are bad people for doing so or anything along those lines, so please do not misinterpret my words.

I already commented on that earlier.

If he claimed his kittens from the shelter as his pets but then released them into the wild wouldn't that be almost like killing them anyway? I know many cats have a hard time surviving in our world and certainly they could be caught by the shelter again...

Releasing kittens into the wild=feeding owls, coyotes and other predators

ETA: I know this from experience; while I lived out in the boonies, we had numerous litters off kittens dumped near our home. We always did our best to feed them and provide shelter but many were eaten by predators. I saw an owl swoop down and grab a kitten and a fox carrying one off in its mouth. I would rather limit their freedoms and give them a safe home than have that happen.

I dream of being a housecat or dog- that is the life.My dog is SPOILED.

Poor animals have been pretty much breed and domesticated out of their wild instincts and likely wouldn't survive without humans.

Also, I consider pet a term of endearment.
Pretty twisted and negative to consider it otherwise...but have fun with your awkward image of the world around you.

when our cats were in a cattery for 1 1/2 weeks, the male was pretty much feral when we collected them, he just didnt like us being there, didnt trust us, and when we got them home, he ran away for a bit =[

If I start walking around calling my pets companions people are going to start talking..

IMO Most pets are treated more like children, not simply objects that humans posses. I'm okay with cats and dogs as they have houses& yards to roam. Just not a fan of caged pets. :(

Anyways I understand where your coming from bthizle but I think you're taking it out on the wrong people. Everyone here loves their animals enough to talk about them to others as if they were a child or another member of their family and you see this as a bad thing ?

Maybe you should take all this frustration/enthusiasm and use it somewhere where will actually make a positive impact :cheers2:
