Dreads + Motorcycle Helmet?

I had to go up a size on my helmets. They just got too tight and the front/face of them were being pushed into my face. My hair is pretty thick and my dreads are medium sized and pretty dense.
Motorcycle helmets were the one thing that was stopping me from letting my hair dread as I didnt feel like buying more helmets. I gave in about 8 or 9 months ago and was able to use my old helmets until about a month ago and I just couldn't take it anymore.....
