i just went back a number of pages searchung for posts i remember about crochetting but since none of the threads had names that rang a bell i didnt wanna clck through 500 threads trying to find the right info but a few i remember.. 1 talked about how after she stopped crochetting the crochetted part looked woven and not dreaded like the dreaded partandwhen shesqueezed ieach part ey felyt different she described the crochetted part asfeeling squeek like broken ends rubbin on eachother not sponmgy like the dreaded parts ( think she was concidering cutting of th part she crochetted) another complained about havong to keep doing it ause everytime shed get them neat a few weeks later they'd be even fuzzier then b4 and simple logic tells you if you have thousands of tightly bound very thin fibers and you constantly poke holes through you cannot avoid bereaking many fibers and weakjening the overal structural integrity a dozen holes will do damage biyt wont cause your dread to fall off..but if u have to do dozens a month very month for years and years how many hundreds ort thousands of holes can a dread withstand before its more hle then dread why start knowing thatyou'll have to continue? are those ferw loose hairs reallyt wirth the damage
More loose hair at a year than 8 months?? Even if there is a distinct difference between the crocheted and new growth, which there isn't, why would it matter?
i shall say this: if you wanna crochet, crochet. its your choice. i personally dont like it, and clearly nor does Mr Eagle. but thats our opinion and choice..
http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=329938 readthat hes shopping his dreads because the crochetted part was so different from nayural
Where does he say hes cutting his dreads cause the crocheted section is so different? I thought it was due to heat..
others have cut iff the crochetted parts because they looked and felt different... and didnt have the right energy as 1 put it your argument wasthat they dont create more loose hairs and that they dont loom and feel dufferent.. well look around and youll see many posts suimul,ar crochetted dreads needing constant crochetting.. and they look and feel different most ppl get dreads because they like less mnaintanaNCE NOT MORE WHY WOULD U LET A COUPLE LOOSEHAIRS BOTHER U SO MUCH THAT I CHOSE AN OPTION THAT GUARANTEES EITHER A LIFETIME OF MAINTANANCE OR A DISTINCT DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE NATIRAL GROWTH AND THE CROCHETTED? NOT TO EVEN GET INTO THE PERFORATION WEAKENING THEM
There wasn't any arguement, I just suggested crocheting as a method of maintaining dreads, With mine there isn't a considerable difference between the crocheted and natural, and i like how they look. Take for example World Peaces dreads... http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=321470&page=7 She crochets every few months, and you can see there isn't a big difference between natural and crocheted. Obviously with some people the difference will be more noticeable, and they may not like that.. Its just another method of maintaining dreads, some people like, others dont. Let people who do get on with it.
theres no difference between natural and crochetted because she crochettes so often there is no natural yes they look noice but they require constant maintanance..maintanance that ultimately weakens the dreads and may one day lead to them breaking and if she stops..thats when u see the difference..in the new natursl growth..it hads a different techgture look and feel.. as it grows out the crochetted parts look added on likre extentions ..because theres a very distinct difference if they already started dammaging theyre dreads fine let em cvontinue till they fall off but dont suggest starting a process that must be continured for life if u dont want them looking weird
im gonna contribute.... i've read al the posts in this thread, I've mentioned in other threads, I tried the back combing method and it failed, I was yet another dreadheadhq idiot, then i went to london and got them crocheted by a polish lady, since then I have done nothing, and its coming up to a year now and i havent looked back. I know that if i did it naturally they wouldnt be as mature as they are now, BUT i have never maintained them, since the day i got them done i havent touched them, so they have been doing their own thing.... so i consider myself inbetween natural and crocheted.... I've done my own thing, and everyone should do theirs....simple as
