you can get a job with neglect locks too. it's no excuse. anyways
i also wouldn't recommend crocheting your tips when your locks are so young. wait a while b/c they just come loose.

Ahoy … Serious … actually you used the term ‘as well’, so that gives it away anyway. Were you born in SA or just lived there for a while … where was your home base? I was born in PE and back and forward between Cape Town. Man, I’ve been in London, for about 5 years and I’m moving to Cape Town next year … I can’t wait, I’m gonna pop!

LOL … Does one have to be from SA to be mod?

What more should I do to train it? I only wash my hair on the weekend. Do I wash less to stop it from oiling or wash more to keep it from oiling?

For the ones that wash with water only how often do you shampoo and what do you do?

I've thought about putting stuff like that in my hair, leaves and such, but I could foresee a huge mess with that.

Ahoy ... Or one might not get a job even with neat and / or manufactured locks anyway … hahaha

SeeingBlue, in terms of the whole ‘neat locks for the sake of other people’, well the truth is that it’s all in your head. You and I and others with locks may see the specific differences between degrees of ‘neatness’, but that’s not the way it works in general i.e. those that have a prejudice relating to locks ... which is usually quite prominent in the conventional area of mainstream employment.

When it comes to this part of society, locks are locks and no matter how ‘neat’ one’s locks are. You either have locks or you don’t … one of these kinds of potential employers isn’t going to look over your CV and say,

“Well it looks like you can do the job, but jeez that loose hair on the left side of your 3rd and 4th lock is totally unacceptable, so I regret to tell you that your application has been rejected”

lol. I was born in Zimbabwe (ghetto) moved to malawi, Zimbabwe, malawi (step dad's job) then SA for a while. Lived in Durban then Jburg (ghetto) then mum had enough and moved back to the UK. Do you miss it over there? I miss the hot weather really bad!

And all your answers are without judgement and very informative. Some mods on here are to opinionated and not very helpful. I can't say who cause I'll get banned. oooooh lol

I once fell into a pile of leaves and I was pulling broken peices out for weeks after. So I personally, wouldn't reccommend that!

Ahoy ... Man, forget about putting all sorts of nonesence in your hair. If you want rounded ends, like now, then do the circular rubbing that I mentioned before ... otherwise let your hair do it's thing.

Ahoy … That’s awesome. I would love to travel the whole of Africa, with a bag and a stick. I know, pretty unrealistic, there is just way too much land to cover. I’m trying to save some money before I get back to Cape Town, because I would like to cruise up to Ethiopia, Eritrea and Djibouti

    Where do you live now?

Man, do I miss it … wow, like a bee would miss flowers. I’ve been homesick for the 5 years that I have been in London … and jeez, the weather …

LOL, I think that my last post on this thread was opinionated … I really don’t think that one should put all sorts of gunk in the ends of the locks.

Hahaha, but seriously, if someone has a specific idea of what they are trying to achieve, then I think that the idea of a forum is to come up with the best approach to what the person is trying to achieve … rather than to try to convince the person to want to achieve something else. Take the neglect vs. manufactured approaches to locks. If someone sets out to have the results of manufactured locks, that’s their trip, the thing to focus on is what methods are beneficial and what methods are not.

I don’t think there is a forum that can be free of some form of ‘Modarchy’ … even Anarchist forums

Ok well you say you wash your hair every three days. That to me is too excessive. To keep it from oiling up you need to wash less as shampoo strips hair of it's natural sebaceous oils causing the scalp to think "oh shit we don't have enough, we need to produce more oil".

So what you need to do is gradually wean your hair off shampoo. For the next two weeks wash your hair every four days, then the week after every five days then six.

The people who only wash with water do not use shampoo AT ALL

Well right now I only wash it with shampoo once a week, I was thinking about doing 3 days. I guess I will start using just water though and do it every 3-4 days for a little bit and see what changes.
