I agree. to each his own. I personally wouldnt want extensions just like some people wouldnt want to crochet their dreads. dont take crap from people, if dread extensions are gunna make you feel good then go ahead
It's a choice of you own right? I mean there are so many ways to extend your dreads o wear synthetic dreads or woolen dreads, but even so, they're allright, and nobody should be judged by their way of wearing hair (some people have dreads also to make this statement so seriously, why make such a hassle?)
i wasn't calling him a douchnozzle i was saying that people who are judgmental of others in any way shape or form are douchenozzles. if this person wants synthetic dreadies, let 'em be. help 'em out if you can and keep your thoughts to yourself if you don't want to. frankly, don't understand why i'm the one being slammed i know tons of people do it synths. it's a different scene. they aren't poseurs. they are just doing their thing. be confident and rock your look and let other people rock theirs. life ain't anything like highschool.... he really just got mad at me for saying douchenozzle sorry, i forget i'm not *always* posting in RT
i have synthetic dread extensions, i got them because i wanted dreads so badly but had really really really short hair back them (small short mohawk kinda hair) and couldnt even get dreads with the hair length that i had, i think extensions only look fake because they're just wayyyyyy too neat and it can stay on practically forever, as long as the joins dont unravel its been two years and my actual hair has nicely dreaded themselves with the help of a crocheting needle, erm needless to say they are abit damaged, here's a pic. if ya can see where the blondish hairs are, thats where my real hair ends and the extensions begin, i will be taking off the extensions soon, once i find the time :s so to the op, just do what u want if in the end u do decide that u want real dreadlocks and not just extensions all the better
kt, ya seen the segment fer dlocks on jessica soho's? haha... pretty weird feeling.. /shitty... haha.. pero olrayt yung sa isa, yung roy.. natural e.
I agree...to each his own. However, dreadlocks have really deep spiritual and religous meaning for some people, so they get really offended when they see other people rockin the look who do not practice the faith. A good friend of mine is a complete rasta...and it breaks his heart when he sees fashion dreadies... its like a slap in the face....imagine if people made a mockery of your religous beliefs...or something that you believed in soooo much by sporting the look without having the heart. Its like wearing monk robes to make a fashion statement when your not Buddhist....it's kinda weird.
hair is hair. more importantly hair is a different thing to a different person. as you can see some people hate synthetics or anything unnatural. dont let them get to you, i can see why there is an attraction to fake locks. i know some good youtube videos that can help you with synthetic locks, here are some links. here is a girl that shows you how to make them https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihlxsA-R0ZE this girls shows the result of the above method https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=is2UUkj8Guk&watch_response i dont have experience with synthetic locks, but i do with the manufactured look. i hope you find what you're looking for. i hope you guys didnt scare this user off. if this is truly a "hippy" board, wouldn't it be advisable to share a bit more peace and love? you can leave and opinion and leave your thoughts, but you can do it in such a way that doesn't hurt someone? they just want some help with their hair.
I didnt say it was culturally exclusive to rastas....I just mean...that it offends a lot of rastas because dreads are very symbolic of their faith
Found this for the thread starter hope it helps: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/28-veri-real-...14&_trkparms=72:1431|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318
Which is sad 'cause those with true heart should not care about another person's hair or what symbols they potentially wear for whatever reason. The offense here lays in the heart of the offended. I wonder if a Buddhist monk would really get as pissy as some Rasta's get if they encountered someone hanging out in monk garb as fashion? Hmm. Maybe I should go ask one...depending on her answer, I might just have to hit the sewing machine!! Which oddly enough, the monk fashion would probably go completely unoticed in my neighbourhood wich is mostly SE Asian/Middle Eastern flowing saree's and robe wear. Indians are great about sharing their culture. (Totally made my day when an Punjabi woman asked me to do her henna 'cause she really liked my work! ) Which brings me to another symbol I use but have yet to get flac over. On occasion, when I feel the need to be conscious of the vibe of an enviroment or don't want to be judged on my crazy hair, I will sport a hajib or other hair covering. Even though it is not of my relgion my use has been recieved as respectful, so far.
I agree...I think we should all be free to just be ourselves and all be open minded enough to accept, learn , and love. The rastas Ive known who get offended by fashion dreads are all black and their faith among many things also symbolizes black empowerment to them.....I think thats why they get offended to see white fashion dreadies. They see it as just another slap in the face. Does that make sense?
that is pretty intolerant and childish in my opinion, not to insult your friend because i understand where he is coming from... but we are trying to tear down walls here, not build more... i understand this but i think it is backward thinking... because no one is really slapping them in the face at all, in fact it is quite the opposite...
dangkulit nga e.. ang intro sa kanya, pinoy rasta daw siya.. xD pero ok din, 2 years walang ligo sa ulo.. mukhang ermetanyo moy.. ye..
