Well you hit the nail on the head there. If I can change the perspective of one openminded person in this world then my job is done.If I can convince a waxy to take a second look at what they are up to my task is complete. This is all I have attempted to do in my own unique, staunch and bolshie kind of way.
I arent a trouble maker more of a shit stirrer when it comes to people or perceptions I disagree with.Sadly for some (puppy I mean the likes of you) its my perogative, and being a free speech site,my right. All you battys, kill eaters, fornicaters, alchohol sippers and haters step the fuck off.You cant hold your shit to me and expect it to stick as guarateed I live a much purer life than 95% of you here,so I leave you with this......Fuck Y'all!(not directed intentionally at you glacius cheers for the words.)

I like your style DjNgatidread. I also rock all natural dreadlocks been growing for around 5-6 months. However, my first set that I had as a teenager were not all natural.

I cut off my first set and started from scratch, now that my locks have come together through the neglect method I feel like I was cheated out of my first set of dreads by "putting them in."

You really can't make dreads. Just time and Jah's blessings.

Alright, I'll try this without calling names. I don't particularly like you or your attitude to others, I find it disrespectful, but I can see that you're just trying to show others what you believe to be the truth. I guess that's what everyone does, just usually not as viciously. Excuse me if these are the wrong words, my english sucks. Anyway. I see you and everyone else here have come to some understanding with one another, and I'm perfectly happy to let this go. I don't know you so I can't judge you, and at the same time I can't take offense at things you say because I don't see exactly how they're meant.

And I guess you know your shit... you have awesome locks.

    Umm.:leaving:

I try to have love & understanding for all my brothers and sisters, even if they are lost on their path. You can't teach people if you come at them in anger and hate. Some people have not been exposed to the culture that you have been, their ignorance is not their fault.

    BALDNESS:

BALDNESS as it's known will not be stopped by dreading as I understand it. Male Pattern Baldness is a genetic trait passed on via the parents. My understanding of it is that if you're a male, the gene is passed from your mother's father to you. This is not always an accurate indicator, and will depend on many genetic factors. So the short answer is no. Nothing will stop the ACTUAL loss of hair from the hair follicle, read on.

    ~

    DAILY WEAR AND TEAR:

The average human losses about 100 hairs a day. I do not know if dreads stop this cycle. If the average 100 hairs ARE lost from the follicle, then the hair is retained via the knotting process. My guess is that an individual will lose LESS hair in this fashion with dreadlocks. The reason is that there is little to no stress on individual strands from washing and combing/brushing. Does one still lose the more-or-less-100-hairs-a-day? I do not know, and have no way to check. BUT! In theory, these lost hairs will get 'eaten' by a dread. That means that hair will maintain a certain level of fullness with dreads. My guess is that you will not lose these <>100 hairs a day, because each hair has the structural support of it's neighboring dreaded hairs.

    ~

    OTHER LOSS:

Arguably, hair loss that originates from using un-natural chemicals, tight-fitting hats and apparel, and other "man made" baldness' would be cured by proper dreadlock maintenance. But then these could also be alleviated by other means such as not using chemical laced shampoo's and conditioners, or not wearing hats or headgear that are so tight.

    ~

    SELF:

Before dreading, I was pulling the usual "100 hairs" out of my shower drain in the morning. Since I've back combed, started washing naturally/organically, and left my hair alone, I have counted exactly 5 hairs in 6 weeks that I am 100% sure came out of my scalp. I started dreads due to my vow (Nazirite), so hair loss has been at the forefront of my dread lock career. Interesting question. Hope I've helped.

Humans lose less when they are younger. They lose more when they are older. The average is about 100 hairs a day, and can go as far north as 250 hairs a day from what I understand. I'm no expert. If you're still interested, I would recommend you to Google it- you'll get more/better information than you will from me.

Ok well I'm thinking about growing some natural dreadies and I've been looking at some vids on youtube of people who have already done so. I've noticed a lot of them started with shorter hair. Currently my hair is somewhere around 12-15 inches. Would there be any advantage to getting it a little shorter before I start? I can't think of why it would be better, but I figured I'd ask anyway.

Considering there are hundreds of thousands in your head already, your head doesn't miss the few that naturally shed because there's at least 250 more that's growing back. And you've got dreads anyways, so you won't see that process because it sheds into the length of the dread.

I started wth a bald head and worked from there. It worked for me.Many people I know prefer to just start growing their hair from short because by the time it is long ta-da you have locks. The main thing I have to express to you is you MUST sperate them as they grow or you will end up growing yourself a lovely scarf instead.Good luck with your journey.

Would it be easier to just shorten it up like 10 inches and start fresh? I really don't wanna do that, but should I be considering it?
