Ok, about the wax was it? I don't think the risk is when you're applying the wax to dry dreads though...but maybe after it's had some time to work it's way in, and possibly not completely wash back out again, the wax that remains could...I dunno, wrap itself around a bit of damp hair inside the dread. Lol did that make sense?
Anyway, it's no more correct to say wax will never lead to mould than it is to say it will always lead to mould. It's just a risk that exists.

I dunno I think its a risk we all share ...no matter your method or the products you use. Certainly cant go throwing numbers on it. Guess we can do a poll on here who has had mold issues or not. I have no mold issues and I used wax.....

No. I'm not really fussed anyway...I'm sure mould isn't a world-ender. I know this shouldn't have been diverted onto wax. When this thread started I thought oh good they didn't use wax so soaringeagle won't have to mention it and there won't be yet another argument about it. But he did, and there was. lol Then it all got a bit angry so I just thought I'd try to write something balanced.

hmm, all I can say is when I had wax in my hair, the parts where I could feel there was wax always took longer to dry out, and if I squeezed them with the towel after washing they always made the towel the wettest? God that sounds terrible I hope you know what I mean. But yes I do aggree with you Callie, everyone is potentially at risk to getting mould, only really though if they wash too often, otherwise it shouldn't be a problem.

Think bcmama already said it: Vinegar! Nothing beats vinegar for mold issues. I too have used it on walls and a basement floor. If it's good enough to de-mold a plumbing accident, then it'll get the job done on my head.

I dunno it is mold or not.... a few times when I don't completely get a good wash, and make sure all my shampoo is rinsed out, if I squeeze the dreads I gelt like soap scunge on my fingers.... doesn't smell or anything.... and only comes out when its wet and I was a lazy rinser.... Is that similar to what you're finding? is it always when you dreads are wet or when they are dry too?

    White vinegar or....?

I have a massive mould problem at the moment in my house. My walls are caked in mould as are most of my clothes. How do you use it to get rid of the mould?
