Are you sure about this? I'm not bitching, just curious, and find it hard to believe.

Is that really true? I know for humans as long as you pump your milk you continue to lactate. You don't need to be pregnant or recently pregnant to lactate. So you can have a 10 year old who still breastfeeds and the mother will still produce milk. Cows aren't the same?

There is tons of info about what they put into cows to produce milk. I saw a documentary on it maybe five years ago. I know that if I lived in certain states that I certianly wouldn't be drinking any milk.

Buuuut, it's not all about the drugs cuz my grandparents had cows and milked ol bessy and they didn't put drugs in here to do it. I think it's like a woman... if she's breastfeeding, she continues to produce milk... Doesn't it make sense that after a cow has her calf, that she can continue to produce milk until her breasts are telling her not to produce any.

I think I read this on here before, but humans are the only species to drink milk of another animal/mammal are humans. Kinda creepy really.

gretaoto - did you change your post? I don't remember reading it as that when I wrote my post. lol Now i just repeated what you wrote for hte most part. lol

    Double post.

I have always felt the word vegan is not truthful. Why? Because to be a vegan you would essentially have to walk everywhere. Why? Because when I drive I see many bugs on my windshield.

A guy I work with is freegan. It seems to be pretty hard with how everything is... but I totally respect it.

Pat you would get along with my friend Jamie... he publicly violated my care bear when we were in school... poor care bear.....but that's not why you would get along with him ... hahaha... he wears corpse paint and is really into black metal and has his own band...their pretty good. But idk u kind of reminded me of him .... so I had to say it .. lol

I saw a bunch of freegans in Baltimore... never did get the chance to talk to them though... They were handing out pamphlets that said "stop bitching start a revolution"

I saw something similar on a documentary. But it was "humans are the only species to naturally drink milk after weaning". But wait you say, what about cats? They drink milk! Well actually, milk makes them ill.

I mean... we are the only breathing item on this planet that drinks a different animals milk. Basically, gorilla's aren't raising sheep to be drinking their milk. :) And after thinking about it, I realized it's my hubby that says it all the time. He's not a milk drinker. :p

what pat said is true milk cows, female cows bred specifically for their milk, have to suffer some pretty strong pains after not being milked for a while and if not milked then will get sick and die, although some farms overmilk, there are limits and oh well, I dont drink that much milk anyway

Hehe xD I'll tell that to my brother :p He cycles everywhere, but he must have a few flies on that soopa fast bike of his!!

About the human-drinking-milk thing, I was talking to some friends the other day about we are the only species to drink another specie's milk, but someone said that sometimes a newborn can be mothered by another species, and the baby will drink the milk of its "mother" of a different species, but I don't know if that is true, it is phesable, but meh I dunno. Not that it really matters, its still during it's infancy, right?

I wouldn't say we drink milk past weaning 'naturally', no other animal drinks milk in adulthood, and with the case of cats they get ill from drinking it because they cannot digest it. So, that begs the question, right at the beginning of human-hood, y'know, those hundred thousand years ago in Africa, our bodies weren't (or probably) suitable for drinking milk- I don't even think we drank milk back then... http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070915145423AArHrfP So farming is to blame, I HATE FARMING. ^^ hehe So our bodies got used to it, so it became normal.

Pah, I hate how most things in this bloody modern world are 'normal'... rat race etc... eurgh!!

I'm an omnivore that eats more veggies than meat I think I've had maybe an oz of meat in the past two weeks. but all of that is when and if I eat. I eat maybe 2 times a day and that tends to be something like ramen or salad or a sandwich if i'm feeling up to it. My body just doesn't really ever seem to be hungry anymore.

but today I've already planned to get a veggie sub either from subway or from carolina pizza co.(they love dreads there lol)

That whole think about other animals not eating milk, well not all animals need greens and not all animals need carbohydrates so what? Every species is different with different dietary needs so comparing human milk consumption to other species is a little ridiculous.

They sure are. :) I agree.

But it's enough to make some ppl think twice about drinking it. I have to admit that after I started giving it some real though... it put me off a bit. It just seems weird that humans are psychologically prepared to the milk of cows and goats but have issues drinking milk that comes from humans. I dunno.
