Hello y'all, This is an update about my dreads, I haven't been an active member for a while, my last post was close to 4 years ago, I love this community, have had lots of inspiration and help from this forum and thought its time I shared my progress and experience with dreads, yes I still have them! A little about my dread journey, I started growing my hair in 2008, I did that for a year and then started the dreads. My hair is pretty thick and crazy, thats why I shaved it for so long! All I did to start is section and twist, (pics in old album), I had rubber bands for a day and then took them out, the first week I didnt shower.. my hair... and slept in a toque, then I just let it do its thing, no one other than myself did anything with my hair, no wax, I used Dr. Bronners for a bit and very early on I stopped using anything other than water, my hair dreaded really fast, after a year or so the dreads started to knot together and I had to do some solid work to split them, a year later I did a little bit of crochet to some dreads to tidy them (never doing that again!) The best dreads need only love and patience. It sure is a learning experience, my dreads and myself growing together, it has become really easy to take care of them now and I absolutely love having dreads, I haven't used anything on my hair other than water for at least 2.5 years not, I wash them every 2-3 months with boiling water, baking soda, sea salt, lemon or vinegar, and tea tree oil, my scalp feels great and I love that I don't use these horrible chemicals most people are fine with. I also always try and keep the dreads away from each other, they do congo and I have a few but I wouldn't want to end up with one huge mat, I just run my fingers through them to keep them apart. The last thing I did is cut a few dreads on the back and a couple on both sides, the weight started to bother me, I also work outside and the heat is a bit too much... I still have most of them though I didnt take dread pictures during the process and had to find random pics from here and there with my dreads in them, will try and post them in order, I do travel quite a bit too so I hope you guys will enjoy these dreads in pretty places. Love The one picture I found from 09
