Dread maturity?

That was what I was thinking, the only way your hair would "repel" water is if it is really oily and since Pat doesn't use soap I'd bet his locks are pretty oily.

 

Nah, my gf doesn't use soap and her locks or scalp aren't oily. They also absorb water.

 

Well then maybe Pat just has special hair.

On a serious note, I don't think Pat's locks look oily, I just don't think he soaks his dreads that long. (only the man himself can shed light on this). The lack of soap shouldn't be a problem if weaned off over time..

 

No I get them wet maybe once every 3 or 4 months if that. I just tie them up when I shower so I can wash behind my neck easily

And I'm sure that if I leave them submerged for extended periods they would absorb some water. But when I go swiming and stuff they come out pretty bone dry except for the roots. Loose hair at the roots normally gets wet

 

So basically we need to ask him how long he showers for?

She's got loads and loads of loose hair. The actually locks though are pretty mature if you ask me. I had to rip for her a couple weeks ago. It was a hellish job which I did not finish.

So is it agreed then, that the only time your locks are truly mature is when they were started negect and can no longer absorb water?

And I never said anything along those lines. My dreads are 4 years old, formed through complete neglect except for the ripping I did 2 years in because I had a complete helmet of knots. So they're extremely tight

 

your body tends to produce as much oil as you need... wash more often and "squeaky" clean, your body produced more oil to compensate. Less often and your body produces less. It eventually levels out. Which is why bedridden people that wash infrequently don't have oily hair even though its seldomly washed.

Also thanks again for pointing out that I'm skinny and you don't like it. Are you insecure with your weight pat? You don't have any reason to be.

Actually I only mentioned your fib about your hair once. You and other people are the ones still discussing it.

There is no void in my real life relationship. I am completely in love and am completely loved. I don't know if you are in a similar situation and if you aren't, I hope some day you will find that. Even if you are a flamer.

For the record, my dreads don't hold water except at the tips and roots, which are the only parts that aren't matted. I've been doing the neglect method for a little over a year.
