    I managed to scuff my left foot while strolling barefoot around the city on Saturday last. It bled like a son of a bitch. Unfortunately I also managed to scrape three toes on my right foot when I took an unexpected faceplant later in the day. Does this kind of misfortune happen to other members of this forum? Despite my recent misfortune I wouldn't do it any other way.

    I expect it's just where you may be used to wearing shoes and not walking 'positively' enough. Dragging your feet and not lifting high enough is a common mishap with some occasional barefooters.

    It can happen to anyone. I have done it to myself. When you're barefoot you have to exercise a bit more caution. The more you go barefoot the more this will become 2nd nature. Sorry about your mishaps, I hope they heal (no pun intended) up soon.

    It happens.

    What Shayla said... plus walk lighter and more slowly.

    Barefoot people are never in a hurry to get anywhere! (-;

    I'm a barefoot old school skateboarder, and practically never hurt my feet, but a while back while barefooting in my hotel room I tripped on a bedspread and sprained my toe and my ankle real bad. I guess God thought I needed an attitude adjustment.

    Despite having that rough start to the barefoot season, I managed to do much better as the summer progressed. I occasionally still scuff the odd sole but not to the extent I did previously.

    I have: Scuffed the ball of one sole on sidewalk from not lifting the toes enough (I walk heel to toe) and the ball of the foot hit the sidewalk almost directly; sliced almost the entire ball of one foot open by sliding the foot forward when stepping too low over the curb (no scarring when it healed); seriously sprained but not broke my ankle mis-stepping down stairs; broke my little toe banging it against a concrete curb divider between cars in a parking lot (healed no deformity). Slicing the ball of the foot was the worst because my soles were becoming thicker. I have since learned to take a jump-step over the curb just to be sure I am over it. That excludes the occurrences of genuinely burned soles ranging from tenderized to almost US dollar coin sized broken blisters, because they were not blood blisters and allowed me to continue without not being able to walk slightly slower(but wow did it HURT when I finally got home and put my feet up, and we're talking PAIN but still not needing to go to the hospital, for sure they felt hot overnight and I had to wear socks the next day to walk comfortably).
