but thats HOW THEY DID NETWORK WIRING IN THE 80'S SO IT MUST BE BETTER THAT WAY

 

looks like a nappy mess. also looks like to make any changes would require a complete rework ... hopefully they have good documentation/schematics because youd definitely need them

 

oh yeah, soldering ribbon cables to male pin headers is a motherfucker too ... but it makes things neater and prettier.

No gag. I've worked in IT and I was inside our towns ISP server building before... not much better looking than that actually. That looks like coaxial networking actually, ancient stuff.

 

When you have a lot of wires... Even neatly arranged can look overwhelming. And setups that require frequent reconfiguring... If we took the time to make it look artistic there wouldn't be much time left for the work itself. That is a gag but like most humor an exaggeration of the truth. Permanent installations can be made neat though.

The advice not to mess with wires you're not in charge of is sound advice!

 

Indeed as the slightest wrong move can ruin it all!!!!

 

It could potentially make for a grueling troubleshooting session! :-o

 

I wonder how long it would take to fix??

 

I'd prolly just start over.
