Lol, rabbit was very playful tonight with the dog and I'm watching and he's got his paws on dogs snout and I said I think you're about to get a face hump boy, and yep! Bunny went for a few nose humps. Dog took it pretty well lol. 20180426_081331.jpg

I'm watching "The Circle" with Emma Watson, and it just did something offensive. It portrayed this Hispanic lady as some kind of criminal. The movie can totally be cool without doing anything like that. Movie is a little weird.

How can a movie be offensive for casting a Hispanic person as a criminal? I've never heard a black person complain about their casted roles and they're usually always criminals. Lol.

We were talking about this in a Sociology class recently. There's this show 24; you may have seen it. It always casts Arabian villains - like every single episode had one or something. Sometimes the big wigs in Hollywood don't give a second thought to who they cast for what part. The problem is it effects our worldview. I have an example in my mind from a recent lecture. There were something like 500,000 or some ridiculously high number of Hispanic American heroes in World War II, yet when there are documentaries about the war, they aren't even mentioned. It's an example where Hispanics are invisible for some odd reason. The other factor is the real life media showing immigrants as criminals instead of hard working, or only reporting when someone commits a crime and not when somebody of color does something heroic. It totally determines how we feel about these people. And if no one brings it up, it just keeps on happening.

Well, I can't speak for anyone else but just because I see a culture portrayed as something in a tv or movie show doesn't mean I actually buy into oh they all must be like that then lol. If she's casted as a criminal then she's a criminal. It's only an actor in a movie, she could see straight passed it for what it is, like, there are Hispanic criminals.. I don't really get the relevance as to a casted Hispanic criminal and Hispanic fighters in WW2. Anyway that ain't gonna get you anywhere, I've blasted this forum with proven facts and stats about culture involvement in WW2 and nobody cares because nobody wants to care about that because just like your stereotype argument, all Germans are or were Nazis, right?? :p

So if anyone wanna feel hard done by, it should probably be me when all our colourful forum folks refuse to look at the evidence they ask to be provided with.

    Meh.

I missed the last two episodes because I was more into cleaning up the house. The missus digs it though.

I'm still undecided, but it's well passed bed time right now.

    Zzzzzzzzzz all! :)

Had a Dirty Harry a-thon yesterday as it was Anzac Day (Memorial Day) here, the main villians are all white, but the fill in some action scenes here and there baddies are all black, I never really noticed before, but man, he kills a lot of black guys in those movies

Believe it or not, I've never watched Dirty Harry. I know that probably sounds ridiculous. Maybe it was before my time or something. I grew up in the eighties and have heard of it. I even did a stint working at a video rental place. I guess it never jumped out at me as something I was missing. Is it like James Bond where you just have to watch every film, or is there one best movie I can get by on? Now you've got me wondering! :)
