Anyway, Consolidated, you don't need to defend your decision not to have children, if you don't want any, fine, it's probably better off that way, but you also don't need to bash others who feel differently than you, and that's what you did from the get-go.

... I'm sorry.. this answer makes me really speechless. You never heard of studies where they take a 'how happy are ya' test? And you can't believe that when they let parents and non-parents take that test that people who don't have kids have a higher score?

The 'happyness' or 'how fullfilling is your life' tests have shown (apparently) that people without kids are more happy (because they have higher test scores) than people with kids (because they have lower test scores)

It's not THAT hard.. if you want to attack consolidates views or whatever, do it with good arguments.. not stuff like this. She's trying to have a discussion here but from what I've read you're only saying "well, that's your opinion".. that's no fun Come one.. where are the good counter-arguments of having kids, except for 'because we luuuuuvvv kids and WE want to HAVE kids because WE like kids.. ".. what about the kids?

She had a good point when she said that those kids don't ask to be born in this world.. what about that?

 

.. we're not animals.. we can overcome natural instincts. Is it a natural instinct to fuck every nice looking person we see? Hell yeah. Does everyone act on it? No.

Do you die when you stop breathing, eating whatever? Yes. Do you die when you don't have kids? No.

Does the human race get exctinct when people stop having kids? Depends.. the human race will get a lot more sane and healthier if there were less people on this planet.. so not procreating as much as we do would actually be good for humans as a race. So why does everyone still wants kids? Because we seem to be unable to rationally overcome our animalistic instincts. Is that selfish? Yes? Is it wrong to be selfish? That's up to everyone for themselves to decide.

 

Gee, wow, I never though of that. *slaps forehead* Actually, she picked that out of MY post because she is grasping at straws. Of course they don't ask to be born. Yeah, we can overcome our instincts to a point. But we don't have to. Having children is a choice, and I chose to do so.

Actually, yes we would be extinct. If everyone stopped having babies right now, in 50 years that would be the end of the human race. The babies born today would be 50 years old, too old to reproduce. And there would be no one left even to take care of the elderly.

This selfish arguement is still ridiculous. You compared it to breathing and eating? Talk to some women who can't have kids and want them badly. Tell me how happy they are. Your "happiness studies" are flawed, they forgot to survey the people who want kids and can't have them.......

There are many people who were born to be parents, that's all they ever wanted to be....so when you see little girls playing dolls wanting to be mommies when they grow up, are their dreams not as valid as little Johnny who wants to be an astronaut? Are they just selfish little girls because they didn't say they want to be doctors or lawyers? Nice attitude. Being a parent is just as important of a job as any other. None of you would be here posting, had someone not wanted to be a mother.

 

I think the real issue here is a conceptual miscommunication about the word selfish..

and it bothers me that you act as though it is selfish to have babies.. Sorry, but to me who cant have a baby, makes me want to kick you, sorry...

 

Well I'm sorry you can't have children.. Modern medicine has many ways to solve that problem.. And you can always adopt.. For me, if I ever want children I think that's the way I want to go, adopt a child.. There are a lot of children in this world who need love and care and don't have that right now, so why bring one more into this world?

But again I want to tell you that I feel that being selfish isn't necessary a bad thing.. It's human nature.. What I said before, I think we have a conceptual miscommunication here.. But because english isn't my first language I don't know how to explain this better then I've already tried.

I hope you can fullfill your dream to have a child, never ment to disrespect you.. But it's still my opinion and you can agree or disagree with it..
