What?! How is bringing children into the world that you love, cherish, and devote yourselves to a selfish motive? How is creating another life, or lives, with someone you love selfish? If it is, well, then as a mother of three beautiful children I guess I'm pretty damn greedy and I'm proud of it too.

I've always known that I wanted to be a mother, and I think it's one of the most beautiful and amazing experiences that one can ever imagine. I can't even begin to express the love that my husband and I have for our children. I get all emotional just typing about it.

I feel sorry that you will never know that joy. At least, with the mind frame you have at this point in your life.

But, not everyone is cut out to be parents, and not everyone has to desire to become one. I guess I just find it offensive the way you seem to bash those who have chosen a path in life that you personally don't wish to take.

 

Evrything you do, every action you make is a selfish move.. People are selfish, there's no harm in that, just the we we are..

Remember that episode of friends where phoebe tries to do a selfless thing but she discovers that everything you do has a selfish motive.. I'm not saying that if you're having children you're bad people. That would be stupid, cause it's human nature.. But acting sellfish is human nature, nothing stupid about it.

When you do something you do it because you have your reasons for doing it, it makes you feel good. When you do something for charity you actually do something for yourself because it makes you feel like a better (wo)man. And ofcourse in the process you help others. When you get pregnant you decide to keep the baby or not, every reason you can think of is a selfish reason. If you're keeping it because you think you're killing a child and thats wrong you keep it because keeping it makes you a good person and therefor is a selfish reason.. Nothing wrong with that..

You all think that being selfish is wrong, but I'm not saying that.. Being selfish is what people are all about. If you try to live as good a life as possible being there for others, helping other people you do that because you think that's the right thing to do and it makes you feel good about yourself. Just think about it..

You can disagree with me, but don't call me stupid.. If you want to have baby's thats fine by me if that makes you happy, just think about why you're doing it and recognize that most of the reasons are for your benifit only.. Children don't ask to be born and thats a fact..

 

Im kinda sick of seeing the word selfish being thrown around so much. To be selfish is just to be concerned chiefly or only with oneself. i think you're stretching it just a bit, of course humans think about themselves and if thats selfish then so be it. but you're implying negativity with this and it seems like a crock of shit to me. what about other animals? they have offspring.. does that make them selfish? no, because they don't think like we do. but by that reasoning every human thought concerning the self is selfish. and thats almost all thoughts.. so it all cancels each other out and in the end nothing really matters or means anything. if we didnt breed then we would still be selfish there is a selfish way to look at probably every chioce you make everyday. if we didnt think about ourselves we'd be fucked. you said there is nothing wrong with being selfish but it sounds like you dont think that. think about why you think. this argument is circular.

 

I guess I got a bit of a negative outlook on life, but that doesn't mean I'm stupid or wrong.. You choose your own way of thinking, so you can choose not to look at life in that way..

Of course they don't. No animal asks to be born. Trees don't ask to be planted, either.....are they selfish, too? You didn't ask your mother to give birth to you, but unless you're completely unhappy in life, you'll be glad she did.

So don't have any children. Don't act like you're selflessly helping world population...

IMO, you need to have a reason not to have children because you feel inadequate not having any maternal feelings.....

 

i think often people without children like to nit pick and justify to themselves why they are glad they never did have kids. i dont personally feel comfortable telling people something about themselves when they have experience with it and i have none. i don't think bringing a life into this world is selfish, its about the greatest gift you can give someone.
