I donate blood as often as I can. My grandmother is anemic and is a breast cancer survivor and needed many transfusions, so it's personally very important to me that I donate. I'm also O+, which is another reason I donate so often.
i'm O+ too. the last time i donated it was a double red cell donation. they hook you up to this machine, that separates your blood into it's components and just keeps the red cells. it injects the rest back into you along with saline solution. kinda weird.. i became an organ donor too
I've now made over 25 donations and have a silver donor card. My wish to make 50 is an incentive to keep going regularly.
It's not so much that I don't donate because I feel that it is my blood. Rather it is because the one time I was able to do it the size of the needle freaked me out. And then they had a hard time getting blood from one of my veins so they had to move it around. Holy HELL did that hurt. I tried to again in June this year but got deferred because I was in Santo Domingo the previous summer.
How are people "selfish pricks" for not giving out their blood. Yes, its a good cause but for me you went about this totally wrong. People like you really piss me off. Rather than insult and degrade people for not doing what you see is right. Why don't you make it positive and persuade and remind people to give blood? You think your better than everyone because you give blood twice a year? And by judging you are assuming your better than everyone - people that are saving peoples lives everyday and they don't have the need to call the majority "selfish pricks". Pfft. Pathetic.
yeah it hurts but it is worth it. My parents both needed multiple transfusions when they were ill, so I feel a need to give back and help. There aren't many ways I can donate and help the world but htis is one I can do. I have donated a gallon so far. peace Delfynasa and the t-shirts are cool too;-)
