If I recall you are the one who brought up the rape tree issue. Why did you bring it up? What was your purpose in presenting these supposed rape trees in relation to Donald Trump and illegal immigration??

I fully understand that there are good and bad people in every group. I fully understand that the majority of illegal immigrates are good, honest, hard working people who are just trying to better themselves.

So why did you bring up rape trees? Please explain.

The proof I offered that formed my opinion of Trump's racism did not come from a single article, it came from from several well documented incidences that Trump has participated in over a significant number of years, and from his own mouth.
You are entitled to your own opinion.

So then show us the documentation. C'mon, talk is cheap.

I'm not going to argue over what a native born worker is, if you don't understand the context I'm not going to be misdirected by your misunderstanding. And I'm not gong to argue statistics. Why would you bring Goldman Sachs into this thread?

    I posted this earlier:

I didn't provide sources because I've grown tired of doing other people's research for them. If you can, please show me sources that disprove anything in my above post.

I can't find anything on the Latina Lista news source that allows me to judge their accuracy. The article you linked to them cites a report by the Cronkite News Service but when I click on it it does not exist so I can't check that out. then it goes on to give a "probable assumption". No names, places, facts, police reports.

Your second link cites Brooks County Sheriff’s Department Benny Martinez saying there have been three rapes, he says nothing about rape trees. then it quotes some vigilante group. Again no manes, places, facts, police reports.

The last one again cites no manes, etc. and the man who is telling us about all the rape trees admits to only ever seeing one himself. But at least it's a little more creditable then the other sources.

So to get back to the point, so what if there are real rape trees? What does that have to do with Donald Trump being a racist and the vast majority of illegal immigrates?

I think if someone is sharing links on here to proof stuff (can be a great thing obviously) they should at least accompany the links with some kind of explanation or summary of why this link is posted by you. We know the subject, ok... but its about the content.
Its terribly lame and discouraging to read the content of three links and still have to wonder what questions it did answer in the actual thread discussion, if any. So thanks in
advance for such additions i guess :)

Or people could not be lazy, read it, and draw their own conclusions instead of relying on someone to give them their opinion.

It is the wonderful thing about scapegoating - things don’t have to be true or rational they just have to be believed.

My comment was about the instances people actually took that effort. It appears sometimes links are shared just like that as if the answers are clearly in it when it is not so. It is sometimes not even clear what it is supposed to clarify.
So if it is shared for an exact reason, and not just posted as an article that contains some of the phrases/subjects debated in the thread, why not at least share that reason?
It will also make sure more people will actually click on the links and read the content :)
Not adding anything to a post but just some links can be regarded as just as lazy, if not perceived as blatant incompetence (like here's some links regarding the thread matter, not sure it answers any questions... just seeing if you guys wanna read it for me just because its here :p)

This is from the Politics forum Guidelines

As often stated this is not a bulletin board it is a place to debate politics.

For that reason cut and pasted articles or links [including video] should be used sparingly and more as a way to highlight a persons viewpoint rather than as a replacement for a persons viewpoint.

People that consistently post articles or links without comment may find their posts removed.

If people were just posting spam then I could see the need for removing it, but I don't think posting links pertinent to the context of a discussion is much of an offense.

Maybe it depends on who's story benefits from the links! We live in a time when feeling trump reality and truth. People FEEL like Trump is a racist because of gaffs and badly spoken, unrehearsed speeches while ignoring the same kinds of gaffs and brain farts from both Hillary and Bernie. Even Cruz has said things that someone could call "racist", but it's obvious to me that word has just become a convenient catch-all for "I don't like them".

The REAL racism this nation has been working through wasn't about a few badly worded lines, a style of hair or how many of what color won an award. It was about the absolute marginalization of segments of society specifically because of their race. The country was run like a prison for minorities for a very long time. Even white minorities had to endure second class living under rules that ended many decades ago.

I've said it before that I miss the 70s because we all seemed to get along so much better. The racial shit I see being stirred up these days is both petty and horrifying at the same time. And yet, we have some who cheer the "protests" on. I've sen all of this before, it always ends. And usually it ends badly for those who attack the majority. We have to actually decide to get along folks. The government can't fix us.

Can you give us some examples? (But try to contrast or compare them to Trump, as he is the subject of this thread).

We haven't gotten into Cruz, who I consider worse than Trump. But this is a thread about Donald Trump, not Hillary, Bernie, or Ted.

It isn't, it can be removed for multiple reasons. As always it depends on the details. When it is apparent the link is not adding shit to the discussion without an explanation to why it was shared it is simply unpractical. I'm not for deleting it either just like that, I'm just for keeping it practical. I don't think posts with just a link in it even get deleted on a regular basis (unless it really is spam).

Some people are acting like they explain stuff or make a point but if nobody gets it there is little use. So when they pose a link as if its the answer and are done after that, that just gets annoying. If they don't wanna discuss it they should at least explain why they shared the link. If they fail that there simply is a large chance there's no solid reason at all. It's just a timewaster.

How about the time Bernie said white people don't know what it's like to be poor. If that's not a borderline racist generalization, I don't know what is.

All he had to do was add the word 'most' :p Maybe he did? It's easily left out.
Anyway, there's also a difference between being a racist person and making a racist comment. I think both Trump or Bernie aren't really racist. But Trump is definitely a nasty populist who will say the most racist stuff if that happens to suit him.

It's all relative. Few Americans of any group identity know what poverty by third world country standards is like, from personal experience. You can't find a neighborhood in America that has raw sewage running in the streets. So whenever someone talks about American poverty, it's important to determine the specifics of what they're talking about.

Here's the context of the answer Bernie gave:

So what Bernie is pointing out is that if you are black you have different experiences than if you'e white and it's hard to know the full effect that racism has on blacks if you are white.

Now let me tell you a story:
Back in 1969 I went off to college and stopped cutting my hair. This was a radical thing to do at the time. In 1971 I was one the students with the longest hair on campus at the time. This was in the industrial East where long hair and hippies were not in very good standing. I returned to my small town and walked into the local Murphy's Five and Ten Cent Store to buy something or other. The entire store became quiet and all eyes turned to me. Then the whispering started and I was followed around the store until I left without a purchase.
I recall my thoughts at the time, "This must be what it's like to be black." But at the same time I knew that all I had to do was cut my hair and everything would be back to normal. And I knew that blacks don't have that option. Over the years I was thrown out of a job, had my grades lowered, had police follow me, was called various names, got discriminated at recreational venues, and so on...all because I had long hair.

So I could say to you, based on my experiences; "when you’re white, you don’t know what it’s like to be living in a ghetto. You don’t know what it’s like to be poor. You don’t know what it’s like to be hassled when you walk down the street or you get dragged out of a car."

    Am I being racist?
How does this example of Bernie's statements compare with what I posted earlier about Trump?
