my annoying white trash neighbor,, ironically his last name is Trump too, this is a google search, no photoshop ..

 

Just today on facebook I referred to Donald Trump as "Rich White Trash."

It ain't a stereotype, it's the truth.

 

I can see that though population wise I wonder if there are enough of them to actually be a bonified stereotype. For that matter, I wonder what sort of stereotype I am and how it can be used!

 

What are you trying to say here? What is your point with all of these redneck comments? It's beyond trying to make an observation. Are you saying something about reverse racism?

 

Right? It really isn't any different than describing a bar as a hipster bar. Also, hipster is a term generally used to describe a certain type of white person so is hipster an ethnic slur now too?

George, the word ****** has a long and brutal history. Redneck, not so much.

 

"Reverse Racism" is a meaningless term unless you assume that only white people can be racists. Hating people because of their color, ethnicity or lineage is racist no matter what direction it's directed. My only point was that we still have a long way to go if we can so easily justify slights against others based on their differences.

While I live in Atlanta now, I forbid anyone in the house to use terms like this because the pattern of thinking is arrogant and wrong. And because anyone who gets into the habit of slurring people verbally will ultimately open their mouth at the wrong time automatically. We as a nation have to actually train everyone to stop being assholes it seems.

 

I can see how Hipster (hardly a slur at all) and redneck are worlds apart. Your second point though is an opinion. How does time even matter with this? Hurling slurs at people is wrong no matter how old they are.

 

Well I wasn't really making a slur at any specific person, I was using it as an adjective to describe a bar.

We're probably not going to see eye to eye to eye on this though and it isn't enough of a deal to me to continue debating.

I agree in general with your premise that we shouldn't tear others down.

Okay, but what about the riots that will happen if he DOES win the nomination? Or he he (gasp, choke) wins the election? Prepare for fighting in the streets!

YES! I completely agree! The term reverse racism (and sexism) is among my top five pet peeves for that very reason.

 

It's ok (even good) to avoid using words like that most of the time when they do not add anything constructive to a discussion. But although it may be coming from good intent I would always be against eliminating a word simply because it is offensive or racist. That the word ****** is as popular in language as never before is for a large part thanks to black hip hop artists anyway. People don't have to like it, but banning it because 'its such a nasty word' seems unfavorable. I like it better when the group it was (well and still is) negatively used upon own/reclaim it, wether they are rednecks, niggers, dykes etc. etc.

 

If that isn't inciting riots, then I don't know what is.
He is intimidating the republican hierarchy, and of course they will probably acquiesce to him.
It will be interesting, if he gets the nomination, how much the party supports him.
In the end I believe many republicans will vote for Hillary.

 

Many, many Republican voters will NEVER vote Democrat... If they don't like Trump, they just won't vote. OR... no matter how much they hate Trump, they will vote for him anyways because he's on the Republican ticket.


You won't find many Republicans that would ever vote for Hillary... Independents, maybe but not Republicans.

Yes, it is. Some labels are all about behavior and attitudes, not attributes that you're born with. Martin Luther King used to dream of a day when men would be judged by the content of their character, not the color of their skin. I judge Donald Trump and the great majority of his white trash redneck supporters to be totally lacking in character. They were born with white skin. They choose to be fools. They are responsible for their choices.
