i'm sure you know you can buy a car without "indenturing" yourself for it. the car i own and drive only occasionally cost me $3,100 about 6 years ago. it's well past it's prime, but it does the job. i can't see myself ever buying a brand new car, when used ones are so much more reasonably priced. actually, i don't think i ever want to buy a car that i can't just pay cash for on the spot.

    as for the OP,

you could look into small groups that do co-op farming. i've heard of people around here paying for a tiny piece of land on a co-op farm and they got vegetables every week in the summer. things like that are probably pretty rare.

i say vote with your dollar too. if you like organic food, buy it and your store will keep stocking it, and maybe start stocking more.

i decided awhile ago that i hate chase bank more than any other bank. i read that they practice mountain top removal for coal mining. anyways, i refuse to get a bank account at chase, the most popular bank here. i also refused to get a credit card with them, until one time they offered me $300 for my first purchase if i got a new card. so i did, bout a $30 meal, cashed the $300 and cut up the card.

i guess that's more of just a cool story for me, i'm sure the CC company could give a shit.

the use of credit is still indenture, and yes, i do not happen at the moment to have $3100, in my pocket. even when i have bought vehicles by paying cash for them, which almost every one i've ever owned i did, i was still a slave to keeping them running, if i wanted to.

anything you feel like you have to have, you are in some sense a slave to.
that, i believe, is why ancient asian wisdom advised against desires.

some people are a slave to raising hell and making a pain in the ass of themselves, and imagine doing so to be freedom.

real freedom is to think your own thoughts, dream your own dreams, and believe your own beliefs.

to have a 'national dream' or a national religion, is itself a form of slavery also.

and anything that worships money, or the concept of symbolic value, most certainly is.

using a credit card does not mean you have to be in debt.

i have used my credit cards for thousands and thousands of dollars worth of purchases, paid my bill on time every month and never got charged a single cent of interest.

i use them for the rewards, and to maintain great credit which i'll probably need in order to buy a house some day. then i'll be a slave to that.

It makes your world easier to believe that most people just "bitch and whine." Too painful to think about the multitudes suffering in silence. The masses who feel the boundaries of their cell, yet cannot see them. Who know their spirit is wilted, a flower without sunshine, but know not how to change it nor how to even define it. Fuck it, no one is really gonna do anything about it so lets just strap ourselves in, pat ourselves on the back and take comfort in the fact that, at least, we knew. The idiots ruined everything, trashed and cancelled our freedoms. And I told you...

Well, Mr Bleak... I kinda actually posted this thread to try to get ideas of what CAN BE DONE to fix things/change things....
if you have any suggestions on what can be done I am down for listening and getting ideas and action if I feel it is something that could work...
I actually just joined a group for my county via craigslist on getting the message out locally.... but the group is still in the planning.discussing stage...
I think a lot of people just talk and discuss and "pat themselves on the back saying 'well at least I KNEW' because they feel helpless or confused and don't know WHAT to do...
I mean... just an idea.... why not trying to round up the banksters ...the elite and jail them? Okay, great idea AT. Now...yea... I'm gonna go get right on that right now. ;)

This (or £ in my case). And where possible and appropriate (ie trying hard not to be a d*ck about it) help spread some anti-corporate narrative. Just making the occasional but pointed joke about the fact the banks own every part of every supply chain, as well as the technology, internet and media companies is a simple and fun game.

I partake of the system because I have no choice, but I don't align myself with any of it.I used to be a socialist, but gave up with that.I am no one's slave, but that said my true "freedom" seems limited. No one makes much money out of me.I am not optimistic for the future. Most of the time I am just fighting for my mind.I would dearly love everyone to be safe, happy and not wanting for anything. Some people are just plain bastards.

if you indenture yourself to an automobile or a mortgage or some other long term use of credit, you are participating in MAKING yourself a slave.
making the automobile the primary transportation infrastructure has been a great invention for convincing people they were free while keeping them enslaved.

a real public transportation system, that was optomized for usefullness and environmenatal compatability, instead of the maximizing of prevate accumulation of symbolic value, is what would free people from being enslaved to that.

making all land public, the way indiginous cultures had it, with keep out only in the immideate space around where you actully live, for privacy, and eliminating building code control of what a person can build for themselves for shelter, would eliminate the mortgage slavery as well.

also ostentation is something people enslave themselves to. trying to impress each other with what they can buy, instead of what they can make themselves, is yet another form of slavery that is really really stupid, and other then the too big houses building codes make us live in, that one is completely voluntary on an individual basis.
