Scientists have discovered that dogs align their bodies with the earth's magnetic field before pooping. The effect was observed in all 37 breeds studied.

Similarly, cattle prefer a north-south axis when grazing.

 

I just watched my dog poop. She pooped East to West but I suppose the high wind conditions are considered unstable.

check your dog against a compass next time, and if it poops east-west in a stable magnetic field, call in the scientific researchers.

My dog often does a walking poop and sometimes walks in circles. She will get into position and get some out, then take a step or two forward and push out some more... and so on until she is done. Must be a real freak. Then again she is a mutt so maybe they don't follow the same rules as purebred dogs.

My dogs haven't read the study, they poop facing wherever they want to. I will be watching to see it there is anything to this but I know that they have faced all directions.

haha, I know. I try to give him privacy but I need to make sure he's doing what he needs to do so he doesn't shit in the house. That asshole doesn't give me privacy in the bathroom.
