Dog Toenail Bleed

Just in case you ever cut your pet's nail too close and cause it to bleed, I wanted to share a solution.

Put the toenail in some flour or cornstarch. Hold it there a minute or so and it should clot the bleeding.

 

F#@%, that sounds painful!

EDIT: My parents' dog, Sophie gets her nails ground down at someplace. I think PetSmart does it.

 

She didn't act like it hurt at all. It may get sore later though. IDK

 

It may have hurt me more than it hurt her. I feel so terrible.

 

this is why I'm scared to do my dogs nails. always worried ill cut them too far down.

 

This is the only time it's happened to me.

I have more nails to go and now I'll be a nervous wreck to do it.

 

Id probably use superglue ..

yeah that too.. but probably wont work very well since they lick it off. Never encountered it tho..

 

I read that flour trick somewhere a long time ago and today I was glad that I remembered it.

 

I use a dremmel drill to file away my boys nails. We cut his nail too short the first time, not bad, but he wasn't doing that again so now I use a spinning sanding accessorise and bzzzzzzzzzz them all down. It doesn't hurt him, the vibrations tickle him but we just treat him and he'll go through with it, eventually.
